Authorisations: Lending and Validation Orders Team
The Role
Working within the Authorisations Division, you will have the opportunity to become an experienced, professional Financial Services Supervisor.
We are now looking for several talented, motivated and service focused individuals to join the Lending and Validation Orders team in the Credit & Lending Department.
What does the role involve? What are the key responsibilities?-
- Make confident, consistent, and timely regulatory decisions against our threshold conditions, based upon holistic review and harm consideration, and in line with procedures and SLAs.- Forward plan and develop case strategies to deal with complex or novel firm issues, recommending the most appropriate course of action.- Calling and writing to firms, educating them on their regulatory responsibilities, being assertive and delivering difficult messages constructively and effectively.- Proactively building excellent networks and relationships to facilitate understanding of risks and issues in the sectors and sharing knowledge to achieve good regulatory outcomes.- Role modelling the FCA’s Values and Core Capabilities.- Leading or contributing to continuous improvement initiatives and successful culture of the team/department alongside case work assessment.

Skills/Experience Required
Minimum- Experience of the retail lending sector and in particular the High-Cost Lending, Mainstream Consumer Credit Lending, Retail Finance and Motor Finance portfolios.- Experience of managing stretching caseload (this could have been in a variety of environments for example regulatory, financial services, civil service, legal, project and/or relationship management).- Experience of analysing information and large volumes of data, identifying key risks, making judgements and presenting key issues and recommendations to management.
Essential- Strong writing and oral communication with an ability to articulate complex issues concisely and to a high standard.- Proven experience of building and managing relationships with stakeholders at all levels, including senior management (both internal and externally).- Experience of making timely risk-based decisions with clear justification and putting an appropriate strategy in place to manage cases.- A practical understanding of the regulatory framework and understanding of conduct risks and harms that drives poor consumer outcomes.- Ability to solve complex issues and make timely risk-based decisions with clear justification and putting an appropriate strategy in place to manage cases.- Proven organisational ability - the ability to forward plan, prioritise and manage a variety of competing tasks.- A strong team player with the ability to be flexible and pragmatic and support others.- Growth mindset and taking ownership for learning and adapting to change, positively embracing new approaches and role modelling positive behaviour to encourage others.- Self-motivated and results driven working in stretched environment to meet service standards, targets and deadlines.
Desirable- Relevant and recent experience working within, regulating and/or working in policy or compliance related roles for consumer credit firms.- Financial analysis skills reviewing P&L, balance sheet and other financial information.
