**Your Role**: The position involves subbing and revision. You'll also write brilliant headlines.

**Day to day**:

- Working on the middle bench when required. Checking the work of sub-editors and making sure we hit every deadline.
- Also working as a sub when required, checking facts to ensure stories are accurate and legally safe, consulting with reporter/writer and desk heads to resolve issues with print copy, keeping chief subs informed of changes that arise
- Suggest new angles
- Maintain a wide knowledge of current affairs and trends through reading various titles as well as utilising other media platforms daily
- Work across all four print editions of The Sun - London, Scotland, Ireland and Ulster - as required
- Flexibility to work on a rota across a 7-day week.

**What we are looking for from you**:
We are looking for a talented Assistant Chief Sub-Editor, who is well organised and has the ability to work under pressure.
- Subbing experience on either a national or regional daily newspaper
- Creative, flexible and calm under pressure with the ability to turn their hand to News and Features
- A broad knowledge of current affairs and popular culture is essential
- Awareness of legal and regulatory requirements
- Excellent grasp of the English language
- Able to work under pressure to tight and frequent deadlines
- Well organised
- Adaptability - able to adapt style depending on the story
- This is a hybrid role
