We’re very excited to advertise two Access to Information Support Officer posts to work within our Access to Information team; the Access to Information team is a part of the Trust’s Information Governance service.

We’re looking for someone that works well under pressure, is motivated and organised, and will relish the opportunity to learn. This role will provide you with the opportunity to work with and interpret different pieces of legislation, it will enhance your personal and professional skillset, and help to provide you with the necessary knowledge to progress within our service.

The main duty of the role will be to help process requests for copies of personal data; these requests are made by a variety of different applicants (including patients, solicitors, the police service, etc).

The Access to Information team will eventually be made up of 12 team members - two Access to Information Team Leaders, four Access to Information Officers, and six Access to Information Support Officers. The team is based at Duncan Macmillan House in Nottingham, although the team currently undertake hybrid working (a mixture of working from home and in the office) - the hybrid working has been successful and has proven very popular with the team members

Working within the Access to Information Department you will be required to:

- Retrieve patient medical information from both paper and clinical databases such as Rio & SystmOne
- Identify and depending on the type of request redact third party information from medical data
- Read explicit medical and forensic health information as part of your job role
- Use Microsoft Outlook, Word & Adobe
- Create and maintain excellent records for the department to enable data collection and ongoing audit
- Work to strict deadlines as dictated by legislation, policies and procedures
- Work individually and as part of a team to reach consistently high targets

This role requires an individual who has the ability to multi task and provides an efficient service under pressure. Concentration is required in varying depths depending on the task or situation at hand. Communication with clinical and non-clinical staff, members of the general public and legal representation is a factor. An ability to judge whether to work under routine and non
- routine practices depending on the individual situation and act accordingly.

To provide a coherent and efficient approach to requests for access to information supporting service users, their representatives and Trust employees in relation to their rights under current data protection legislation.

The role includes an element of records management for the retrieval, maintenance and storage of records. Compliance with the Internal Policies and Procedures and National legislation such as the General Data Protection Regulation, Data Protection Act 2018, Patient Confidentiality and Caldicott Principles.
