**Senior Criminal Enforcement Officer (SCEO)**

The Criminal Enforcement Unit

The Criminal Enforcement Unit (CEU) is a dedicated law enforcement function within the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA). The CEU leads, supports and coordinates interventions to tackle the most serious criminal threats to the publicfrom the illegal sale and supply of medicines and medical devices. This is collectively referred to as 'medicrime’.

The strategic aim of the CEU is to prevent medicrime offences where we can, disrupt them where we cannot, and bring offenders to justice where we should. We work with partners to remove the means, motivation and opportunity for criminals to offend.

We are now recruiting Senior Criminal Enforcement Officers. The work is hugely varied. Depending on the role, you could be leading an investigation one day, managing a surveillance deployment another, and delivering innovative preventative interventionsin between. You may be asked to supervise the production of assessed intelligence products, oversee covert source handling, or lead the delivery of any number of the unit’s other vital capabilities over the course of your CEU career.

You may have first line management responsibility for a small team of Criminal Enforcement Officers and Criminal Enforcement Coordinators, and will matrix manage others.

Who we’re looking for

Many of our Senior Criminal Enforcement Officers join us mid-career from the police service and other agencies with intelligence or investigative responsibilities. Some have professional accreditations, such as in intelligence assessment and analysis orCHIS controlling. Others do not. SCEOs sometimes join us with experience in entirely unrelated roles in the public and private sector. We think these diverse backgrounds bring very welcome diversity of thinking and ideas to the CEU. Although law enforcementexperience is a definite advantage, whatever you’ve done before, it’s what you do next that matters most to us. If you have enthusiasm, curiosity, a problem-solving mindset, and a willingness to learn, that works for us.
