Director of Student Experience

**Permanent full time position (1.0 FTE)**
You will have a track record of delivering high quality undergraduate teaching, including innovative practice and the sensitive promotion and dissemination of good practice; and you will be committed to enhancing the student experience in all phases of a student’s relationship with the University. You will have the desire to pursue a career based on advancing students’ educational experience at University level, the capacity to enthuse others about pedagogical development, and will work collaboratively to promote collegiality.
You will possess excellent interpersonal, communication and influencing skills and have significant experience of championing change management in a complex and challenging environment. You will have a good understanding of national policy relating to teaching in higher education, particularly teaching excellence and the mechanisms in place to assess such excellence across institutions.
You will have a PhD or equivalent doctoral-level qualification or substantial relevant professional experience in a field directly relevant to the post. You will be in possession of a teaching qualification or HEA accreditation (at Fellow level or higher). If relevant, you must be willing to complete Warwick’s Academic and Professional Pathway for Teaching Excellence (APP TE) and/or seek (further) HEA accreditation when in post. While the position is teaching-focussed, as part of your role we will strongly encourage and support you in the pursuit of individual scholarly and/or pedagogical research to contribute to the lively research culture of the Department. Your appointment would be contingent on satisfactory completion of a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
**This role will require an enhanced DBS check with children’s barred list.**

**JOB PURPOSE**
To oversee the experience of all students (undergraduate, postgraduate taught, postgraduate research, degree apprenticeship) within the School of Engineering, from pre-arrival through to alumni status, covering educational, environmental, social, cultural, welfare, and related aspects that impact on students in the School.
To contribute to the enhancement of teaching, learning and assessment, focusing on pedagogic practices that facilitate student engagement, contributing to student teaching activities that are innovative and engaging whilst promoting equal opportunities within the School.
To sustain personal teaching practice at an exemplary standard within the School.
**DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**
**Director of Student Experience (DoSE)**
1. To ensure student voice has an impact in the development of the education strategy in the School. The DoSE will act as a champion for the student voice in the School and will be responsible for managing the School’s approach to capturing student voice and responding to cohort-level student feedback.
2. To provide the interface with the University on student experience and engagement matters, including working with individuals in similar roles in other departments whose remit or activities are associated with the student experience.
3. To ensure effective student representation within the School in order to inform the development of educational experience. The DoSE will have a leading role in liaising with the Students’ Union and Faculty Student Engagement Coordinators, convening the Staff-Student Liaison Committee (SSLC) and ensuring that student representation is in place within the School and feeds into School strategy.
4. The DoSE will have an active involvement in outreach activities to prospective students, with sensitivity to diversity of intake including the widening participation agenda; adding value to our University Open Days and to our Offer Holder Open Days.
5. To contribute to strategic projects and initiatives dedicated to enhancing the experience throughout the student lifecycle as it relates to the academic, pastoral and administrative provisions.
6. To be the first point of contact for students in relation to the student experience.
7. To work with the Head of Teaching and other members of the School to develop policy and practice that is informed by good practice in key areas that affect the student educational experience in the School.
8. To ensure that the School welcome new students and supports effective transition. The DoSE will have oversight of Welcome Week in the School, ensuring that the programme enables students to navigate the School’s environment, policy and practice from the outset.
9. To oversee the organization of School student events including graduation, reorientation days, social gatherings, and celebration events.
10. To coordinate and oversee the promotion, allocation and administration of School student scholarships (e.g. undergraduate merit scholarships, postgraduate taught scholarships etc.) and awards (e.g. innovation awards, merit and excellence awards etc.
