Are you currently undertaking voluntary work in an area of social care or working in the private and voluntary sector.
This is your opportunity to join Brighton and Hove Councils well-established Adult Social Care Brokerage Team as a Brokerage Officer. You will be responsible for brokering social care services for people with Care Act eligible social care needs. You will work closely with social workers, care coordinators, social care providers and others to source care home placements and community services. You will also be sourcing services for people with very complex needs, so if you have skills in negotiating costs then this post could be for you.
**About the role**:
You will be part of a Team of 6 managing over 150 referrals per month for residential and non-residential social care services for adults. This role is integral to how we ensure that services in our city adapt and develop to meet the needs of our diverse customers as our information also informs commissioning colleagues in Adult Social Care.
You will need to have experience of working within adult social care, either voluntarily, paid, or unpaid, and knowledge of the Legislation that shapes these services. You need to keep accurate records that are used for a variety of purposes so proficiency in using Microsoft 365 is also required, as are good communication skills, by telephone, outlook and via Teams. Some bespoke packages of care require you to be able to evaluate cost proposals and negotiate best value for Council, therefore confidence in negotiating in a financial setting is also required.

**Additional information**:
Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is less than 37 hours or term-time only.
