Fundraising and Volunteering Lead

**Job purpose**:
To lead and develop Himmah’s fundraising and volunteering functions, creating strong systems and engagement strategies that generate income, mobilise community support, and offer an outstanding experience for donors and volunteers. The role requires a proactive, confident individual with excellent relationship management and rapport-building skills who can work collaboratively across the organisation. You will drive community fundraising initiatives, develop Direct Debit giving, steward high-value donors and partners, manage fundraising events and campaigns, and recruit, engage, and support volunteers across the charity’s operations.
**Responsibilities and main duties**:
**1. Fundraising and Community Engagement**
- Develop and deliver a diverse fundraising strategy to increase unrestricted income through individual giving, corporate partnerships, challenge events, and community fundraising.
- Grow and manage regular giving programmes, particularly Direct Debits, to build sustainable long-term income.
- Develop small giving initiatives, campaigns, and appeals to encourage grassroots support and increase donor participation.
- Build and manage relationships with high-value donors, corporate supporters, societies, community groups, and partner organisations.
- Plan and execute fundraising activities, including sponsored challenges such as marathons and peer-to-peer fundraising campaigns.
- Work alongside ambassadors, societies, and influencers to raise awareness and amplify fundraising efforts.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date donor records in CRM systems, ensuring excellent stewardship and GDPR compliance.
- Create engaging digital fundraising communications and social media content in collaboration with the Communications Lead.
- Manage donor pipelines and fundraising administration to support consistent growth and donor retention.
- Research and implement best practices in fundraising to ensure innovation and effectiveness.
- Achieve agreed fundraising targets and contribute to the organisation’s financial sustainability.
**2. Volunteering**
- Lead the recruitment, induction, placement, and ongoing engagement of volunteers across Himmah’s projects and services.
- Develop and deliver volunteer engagement strategies to encourage participation, motivation, and retention.
- Manage volunteer fundraising initiatives to expand community involvement and income generation.
- Maintain accurate volunteer records, conduct regular feedback reviews, and implement improvements based on volunteer insights.
- Develop and manage volunteer recognition schemes to celebrate contributions and enhance the volunteer experience.
- Work collaboratively with service leads to ensure that volunteer support meets operational needs.
**3. Communications and Promotion**
- Gather case studies, quotes, impact stories, and visual content from volunteers, donors, and beneficiaries.
- Support the development of promotional materials for fundraising campaigns and volunteer recruitment drives.
- Ensure consistent, high-quality messaging across all donor and volunteer communications, enhancing Himmah’s brand and public profile.

**4. Organisational Development and Collaboration**
- Actively participate in organisational strategy development relating to fundraising, community engagement, and volunteering.
- Arrange and support meetings between senior management and key stakeholders to support charity development.
- Identify new opportunities for income generation and service development linked to fundraising and volunteer engagement.
- Attend team meetings, supervision sessions, and relevant training opportunities to maintain professional development.
- Provide flexible support across the team, including occasional evening and weekend working as required.
