GCU are a specialised contractor that offers a full suite of services to several key sectors including Utilities, Telecommunications, Civil Engineering and Traffic Management. With offices and projects across the UK, GCU work collaboratively with clients to deliver projects from inception to completion, producing high-end results while maintaining excellent safety standards.

GCU require a Yard Operative to join the team in Glasgow

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Administer all work yard operations and ensure compliance to safety policies.
- Ensure proper handling of all materials and store it appropriately.
- Coordinate with supervisor and receive all materials and prepare necessary paperwork for same.
- Perform routine and non-routine maintenance on plant & equipment
- Monitor inventory of yard supplies and place purchase orders as necessary.
- Monitor loading of materials to ensure safe transfer
- Maintain neat and clean yard at all times.
- Develop and implement yard fire protection programs to ensure fire safety.
- Supervise all company staff in all yard operations. Adhering to all Relevant Health and Safety Regulations. Other ad hoc assignments as and when necessary

**Skills and experience required**:

- A minimum of two year’s relevant experience in Yard duties.
- Applicants will be IT savy.
- the ability to work with others in a team and under direction,
- high attention to detail
- ability to work autonomously and use initiative
- excellent organisations skills

- Yard Operative: 2 years (preferred)
- Utilities or construction: 1 year (preferred)

- Driving Licence (required)
