Transport Planner

Because of business growth, Suttons Tankers are recruiting for an experienced **Transport Planner** to join the Planning team at our **Widnes** site.

**The Role**:
You will communicate effectively with the customer and ensure drivers’ understanding of their transport plan and the day-to-day completion of work. You will keep the customer up to date with the status of their jobs and ensure customer satisfaction is maintained.
In this position, you will manage the daily workload for your drivers, whilst ensuring that you are efficiently scheduling them and managing all resource effectively. You’ll be influential in ensuring excellent customer satisfaction and vehicle legislative compliance with a safety-first approach.

As one of our Transport Planners you will be tasked to deliver the required KPIs (Revenue Per Shift, OTIF, mileage efficiency, vehicle utilisation etc.) and be sufficiently robust to cope with anticipated events and customer-driven changes. You will be customer facing, so being able to communicate effectively with our customer is key.

**Responsibilities**:

- Responsible for the development and communication of the daily activity plan using the Sutton’s planning system
- Ensure the plan achieves the defined KPI parameters and respects health and safety of the team and environmental impact of the operation
- Provide drivers with their route instruction and review the daily completion of the plan
- Administer as appropriate the IT systems ensuring they are updated in a timely and accurate manner
- Ensure the plan is updated to reflect changes such as task variation, driver unavailability, traffic restrictions etc.
- Review planning effectiveness on a regular basis to identify opportunities for improvement in service, cost and resource utilisation
- Liaise with third party resource providers to ensure clarity of requirements and expectations (agency and sub-contract providers)
- Provide out of hours on call support (via a rota)
**Experience Required**:

- Ideally Transport Planning experience of LGV vehicles
- Working within a transport operations team
- Experience of transport operations with excellent geographical knowledge
- A fast learner of systems and processes
