Job Introduction
The Deployments team within UK Operations operates at the craft end of the journalism spectrum, providing and supporting multi-skilled camera journalists, technical producers and location engineers to help develop and realise editorial ambitions across all News areas. Our teams play an active role in the story lifecycle from concept to delivery, and are based across the UK, with the majority of staff in London at NBH, Park Western and Millbank.

Using new lighter weight cameras rather than the traditional shoulder mount cameras, Camera Journalists provide craft shooting and field editing skills across the range of Content acquisition, primarily providing reactive picture gathering and packaging for all News outlets, including World Service Languages and digital.

Main Responsibilities
You will be expected to work as a camera crew providing high-quality field picturegathering, involving filming and editing news stories within the UK and overseas. You will also contribute to, or create editorially unique and high impact multiplatform content. You will be responsible for feeding material back to base and where necessary to carry out straightforward journalistic and production duties.

You will need an understanding of how the audience engages with video on different platforms. Part of this role will involve putting together video material utilising established templates and posting them on BBC and social media platforms.

The successful Camera Journalist will have:

- Relevant experience of camerawork in a news environment.
- Experience of filming, lighting and editing in a broadcast environment, gathering material for either live transmission or recording, providing a representative visual and audio account of events, using broadcast quality professional equipment.
- Journalistic experience from either a print, online or broadcasting background.
- Understanding of News coverage and understanding of formats such as Digital
- The ability to take responsibility for any brief that might be assigned by a programme, newsroom or newsgathering editor and tailor the end product accordingly for the requisite outlet.

Please be aware that the recruitment process for this post would normally involve both a formal interview and a practical shoot/edit test utilising FCP X editing software and Sony camera kit, (both of which would be supplied if necessary).

The job also requires a full clean driving licence.
