Washington International Camera Journalist

We have an exciting opportunity to work as a staff Camera operator/Editor for ITV News, the UK's leading commercial News provider. The position would be based in Washington D.C. covering the top stories of the day for a UK audience.
Experience in hostile environments and areas of civil disorder would be preferable. Although primarily covering the U.S. the job may require international travel.
The role offers a generous annual leave entitlement, health care and favourable working hours when news permits.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- To operate a camera, sound and lighting equipment to a high standard
- Undertake live transmissions
- Edit, deliver and transmit stories, both in the bureau and the field
- Maintenance, care, basic repair and fault finding to ensure equipment is in good working order.
- Responsible for health and safety in the field
- Work closely to the ITV News' Washington-based correspondents and news editor, and liaise with the London news desk
- Editoral input into news gathering
- Be prepared to travel around the world at short notice on behalf of ITN
- Show editorial understanding of major stories in the USA
- Maintenance of the bureau video library to ensure that ITN has rushes and cut stories stored efficiently for future use
- Good knowledge of Ofcom broadcast regulations and the ITN compliance manual

**Key Requirements**:
- Practical experience as a multi-skilled camera operator
- Should be able to show evidence of creative camera work and editorial input
- An aptitude for editing pictures - experience of AVID technology desirable
- Recognition, awareness and input into content that works on platforms beyond traditional TV like TikTok, YouTube and X.
- Awareness of Health and Safety requirements and experience of working in a hostile environment
- Effective interpersonal skills, ability to work co-operatively in a small team both in the office and on the road
- Understanding of ITN’s key corporate relationships
- Ability to work to tight deadlines, to manage own workload and prioritise
- Robust response to pressure
- Constructive, creative and enabling approach to problem solving
- A valid driving licence
- Basic computer and IT skills
- Awareness and understanding of the financial implications of all decision making
- Holds a valid passport and right to live and work in the USA
Pay: £40,531.00-£44,059.00 per year
