London, United Kingdom The Nursing and Midwifery Council Full time

**Description**:
**About the NMC People and Culture Team**

We are a dynamic and forward-thinking team, dedicated to fostering growth and promoting a positive culture within the organisation. We’re currently looking for an exceptional HR policy and casework lead to join our People and Culture Directorate and support our HR Business Partners.

This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to the delivery of our People Plan and help the NMC achieve best practice across all areas of HR—particularly by influencing policy based on lived experiences within the organisation.

**About the Role**

This is an exciting and impactful role where you’ll play a key part in shaping and maintaining our HR policies for our c.1200 colleagues during a critical period of our cultural transformation journey following the publication of the Independent Review of our culture in 2024. You will lead the continuous review and refresh of policies to ensure they remain relevant, accessible, and aligned with our organisational values, with a strong focus on equality, diversity, and inclusion.

Working closely with HR Business Partners and HR Advisers, you will provide oversight and support for complex HR casework, helping to manage challenging situations and improving colleagues' experience, particularly in accessing reasonable adjustments.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels, both internally and externally, to address key cultural challenges and contribute to creating a positive and inclusive workplace.

This is an ideal position for an HR professional who enjoys the dual focus of policy development and working in partnership with managers to ensure effective implementation of those policies. You will be empowered to drive initiatives independently while being accountable for delivering tangible outcomes. It's an exciting time to join the NMC, and particularly our People and Culture team, as we continue to make strides in creating an inclusive and supportive work environment

**About You**

We’re looking for a proactive, skilled, and knowledgeable HR professional with a relevant CIPD qualification (or in progress) and a solid understanding of employment law and HR policies. You should be confident in translating legal and policy frameworks into practical, actionable changes based on feedback from employees and stakeholders.

Experience in working with trade unions and other employee voice channels will be key, as you’ll be listening to feedback, ensuring that it is acted upon, and communicating changes effectively across the organisation. Strong interpersonal and influencing skills are essential to establish credibility at senior levels and to drive change within the organisation.

Above all, we’re looking for someone who is passionate about improving the colleague experience at every stage of the employee lifecycle. If you’re someone who thrives in a collaborative environment and enjoys making a real difference, we’d love to hear from you

**Please note this recruitment is for 1 Fixed term contract 12 months**

**Benefits**:

- 30 days annual leave - plus eight days paid bank holidays
- Enhanced Pension Contributions via our attractive Pension Scheme - with a basic 8% employer contribution as standard which increases up to 14% with optional added Employee Contributions
- Life Assurance - 4 x current salary
- Hybrid/Flexible working policies
- Enhanced Maternity and Paternity Leave
- 24 Hours Employee Assistance Programme
- Cycle to Work Scheme
- Perkbox membership
- Subsidised restaurant in our Portland Place office
- Season ticket loans

**About Us**:
Our core role is to **regulate**. First, we promote high education and professional standards for nurses and midwives across the UK, and nursing associates in England. Second, we maintain the register of professionals eligible to practise. Third, we investigate concerns about nurses, midwives and nursing associates - something that affects a tiny minority of professionals each year. We believe in giving professionals the chance to address concerns, but we’ll always take action when needed.

To regulate well, we **support** our professions and the public. We create resources and guidance that are useful throughout people’s careers, helping them to deliver our standards in practice and address new challenges. We also support people involved in our investigations, and we’re increasing our visibility so people feel engaged and empowered to shape our work.

Regulating and supporting our professions allows us to **influence** health and social care. We share intelligence from our regulatory activities and work with our partners to support workforce planning and sector-wide decision making. We use our voice to speak up for a healthy and inclusive working environment for our professions.
