You will be visiting a woman with a learning disability every other month, 6 times a year.

She is in her early 50's and lives in a nice care home in Maidenhead.

This woman likes playing food shopping games, bling jewellery and going to the local sensory centre. She loves a cafe latte, a packet of malteasers and crackers She is a woman of few words, but can make herself clear. When she gets to know you, she will be able to have a little conversation with you. You will spend time getting to know her and joining in with her favourite activities.
- The staff are very friendly and welcoming and will support you to get to know her. Visits will start slowly, but by visiting every other month, you will slowly build a connection and visits will become longer. You will be providing support and companionship.**When & where do I need to be available?**

Visits are **every 2 months.**

You will make 6 visits per year, and we ask for a minimum commitment of 1 year.

**As a Mencap Visiting Volunteer you will be**:

- 18 or over
- Friendly and approachable
- Reliable and patient
- Able to use initiative
- Accepting of others who might be different to yourself
- Have good communication and listening skills

**Mencap are strongly encouraging all our colleagues to have the Covid-19 vaccine as a way to help protect each other and the people we support. This is becoming increasingly important as evidence is starting to grow that the vaccine could help stop the spread of the virus, as well as protecting the person vaccinated from getting very ill.**
