**Great Bear** is a leading 3rd party UK logistics business providing nationwide dedicated and shared user warehousing and distribution solutions for international blue chip clients.
We operate in excess of 7 million sq. ft. of warehousing and operate a large modern commercial vehicle fleet, coupled with an extensive added value service offering.
We have currently recruiting for **Transport Coordinator **at our **Port Salford** depot.
**Job Description**:
**Shifts: 4 on 4 off - Nights**
**Salary:£29,280 + £2,000 night allowance**
As a **Transport Coordinator **you will effectively planning driver and vehicle resources to achieve delivery/collection times, whilst optimising resources and adhering to WTD and drivers’ hours legislation.
**TRANSPORT COORDINATOR KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES**:
- Effectively planning driver and vehicle resources to achieve delivery/collection times, creating and updating daily run summary
- Liaising with the shunting operation covering pre loading and unloading operation - Ensuring that service levels are achieved and maintained, in conjunction with other departments
- Optimising resources and adhering to WTD and drivers’ hours legislation
- Using the Driver rota, planning runs according to shift pattern and available hours, taking into account holidays and sickness
- Controlling equipment through sign in/sign out procedure - Ensuring legal compliance regarding any defects, services, MOT’s, etc.
- Carrying out disciplinary hearings, return to work meetings, substance misuse procedure, etc. in order to maintain standards and ensure that employees work at an appropriate level
- Ensuring any risk assessments at the depot are organised and carried out accordingly
- Ensuring all accidents/incidents/near misses are logged and reported in line with company procedures
- Maintaining clear and effective communication with drivers, communicating accurate start times, load information, directions, additional shifts, etc.
- Increasing staff retention and maintaining good morale, reporting any driver’s issues or concerns to management. In turn, communicating any operational changes that may affect a driver’s daily duties
- Ensuring adherence to all statutory and legal requirements, adhering to all health & safety/ safe systems of work
**Qualifications**:
**Knowledge, Skills & Experience**:
- Significant knowledge & experience of tachograph/ driving rules and regulations
- CPC National desirable but not essential
- Previous management/ supervisory experience
- Attention to detail/accuracy
- Planning and organising skills, high level of numeracy
- Negotiating skills, ability to influence and steer
- Ability to work without direct supervision
- Adaptable and methodical approach to work/training
- Conscientious and reliable
- Excellent communication skills in order to deliver accurate information
- Good IT skills including Microsoft office packages
- The ability to work efficiently and accurately under pressure
- Effectively prioritise work load in order to meet set deadlines
- Able to work as part of a team or individually
- Have knowledge of Road Transport Directive and current drivers’ hours
- Be professional, approachable and helpful to ensure smooth running of the general operation
- Significant transport experience in FMCG environment
- Customer service driven
