Job Title: Regulatory Specialist, Biocides EU & UK
Business Function: R&D
Location: Rotterdam, Netherlands/Port Sunlight, UK
JOB PURPOSE
- To support the EU and UK hygiene business ambition. Providing product-specific requirements based on detailed knowledge of relevant EU regulations to ensure all new and existing products are fully compliant with regulations and UL policies.
- Building and maintaining biocidal product dossiers to support the European and UK hygiene business.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Delivers the EU & GB BPR dossiers OTIF as required by the business
- Ensure all compliance documents are fully aligned for all applicable regulations and purpose
- Manage the provision and interpretation of regulatory information to both internal and external customers.
- Ensure any new regulations and guidance’s are understood and communicated to internal stakeholders.
- Deals directly with regulatory questions/challenges coming from local authorities.
- Adapts the global hygiene dossiers to fit the regulatory requirements of the EU & GB BPR.
- Develops EU & GB only BPR dossiers as required by the business.
- Supports the R&D Hygiene leads as required to deliver the R&D innovation program.
- Supports the EU & UK RA Hygiene Manager as required.
- Maintains all existing EU & GB BPR product registrations:
- Ensure all regulatory authority questions are fully responded to OTIF.
- Global Regulatory Information Management
- Ensure all product registration details are captured accurately in the Global Regulatory Information Management database.
- Supports the EU & UK RA Hygiene Manager in the translation of regulation(s) (relevant for clusters and countries) into set of rules (RA rule engine)
- Inputs appropriate updates into the Regulatory Intelligence tool.
- Develops and maintains excellent interfaces with internal and external relevant partners
- Represents EU RA in other Unilever functions (SEAC, External Affairs, Legal,) on assigned topic(s)
- Works with external networks as required (with regulators and relevant Key Opinion Formers / stakeholders)
- Provide support to the regional regulatory managers in the submission or defence of transitional registration.

Internal: EU & GB Hygiene R&D, EU & GB Brand Development, Global regulatory affairs leadership team, Global regulatory affairs managers and network, External Affairs, Legal, Safety & Environmental Assurance Centre, Customer Development.
External: Regulators; key customers; NGOs, trade associations as appropriate.
ALL ABOUT YOU
- Education_
Minimum BSc, preferably an M.S. or PhD in physical science or related field.
- Experience_
- Experience in successfully obtaining and maintaining BPR product registrations.
- Experience working with third-party consultants and suppliers would be a benefit.
- Experience working within an FMCG environment.
- Experience working directly with Regulatory Authorities.
- Experience in using global regulatory information management systems.
- A great collaborator with good communication skills (oral and written), with the ability to summarise to audiences of varying technical capabilities.
- A quick learner who is not afraid to take the initiative and be proactive to get things done.
- Ability to work in an international team.
- Ability to identify and highlight regulatory risks and opportunities.
- Must be fluent in English.
