**About the Role**
Reporting to the Company Health and Safety Manager, the Health, Safety and Compliance Officer plays a crucial role in supporting the delivery of legal compliance and developing best practices across all operations within the James Hall Group. This includes Retail Stores, Food Manufacturing, Facilities, Properties, Head Office functions, Logistics, Transport, and Maintenance.
**Here’s What You Can Expect to be Doing**
- Support the Company Health & Safety Manager to ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations and legislation.
- Provide expert advice on legal and compliance matters, and keep the business updated on legislative or regulatory changes.
- Develop, maintain, and review health and safety policies, procedures, and risk assessments to ensure effectiveness and legal alignment.
- Collaborate with teams across all business functions to improve and embed quality risk management processes.
- Conduct inspections, audits, and safety assessments across all sites, ensuring standards are consistently met.
- Monitor health and safety performance, identify trends and improvement areas, and support the implementation of corrective actions.
- Lead the development and review of health and safety training programs to ensure up-to-date and effective learning materials.
- Work in partnership with Representatives of Employee Safety (RoES) to promote a culture of safety throughout the company.
- Chair regular health and safety meetings with management teams to drive continuous improvement.
- Investigate incidents, accidents, and near-misses, and produce comprehensive reports with recommended corrective actions.
- Where appropriate, report incidents to relevant external authorities.
**A Few Things About You**
- Health and Safety professional, ideally with experience in logistics, food manufacturing, or multi-site operations.
- Proven ability to enhance and manage safety standards under pressure while supporting operational objectives.
- Team-oriented mindset with the ability to work collaboratively across departments and levels.
- Enthusiastic about driving a positive safety culture and improving compliance frameworks.
Skills / Education / Certificates:
- NEBOSH Diploma qualification (or equivalent) - essential.
- Excellent understanding of health and safety regulations and legislative requirements.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage and influence all levels of the business.
- Analytical thinker with strong problem-solving and report-writing capabilities.
- Composed and confident decision-maker, even under pressure.
- Professional, proactive, and adaptable approach to work and shifting priorities.
