**Your role will involve**:

- Monitor the Tunnel Control System and other control indicators to detect abnormalities and issues, and initiate actions to remedy these.
- Maintain regular contact with the control organisations at Heathrow Airport, Network Rail, relevant Training Operating companies and the emergency services to report incidents and test efficiency of working agreements.
- Act as main point of contact for all stakeholder (internal and external), including carrying out the responsibilities defined in the National Railways Security Programme legislation for mainline railway station operator.
- Activate safety critical emergency procedures during significant incidents and operate tunnel ventilation system, and other emergency equipment to minimise risk to life and property.
- Monitor customers flows and operating performance by proactively monitoring and managing suppliers, TOCs and internal stakeholders to ensure safe, efficient delivery of Rail service proposition.
- Provide service information and ensure it is accurate, timely and relevant.
- Lead testing of communication, alarms, and control equipment for both internal and external parties.
- Receive and revise any necessary maintenance work plans and to provide a comprehensive picture of intended works within Heathrow rail operations and liaising with appropriate staff and contractors.
- Facilitate any improvements to the control systems, processes and procedures, comply with the company’s environmental policy and to report all incidents/accidents with an environmental impact.

**Qualification and Experience**:

- Previous experience in a Rail operational or engineering operation environment is essential.
- Experience of asset management/ facilities management is essential.
- Good understanding of the rail network operation, and service relationship with Network Rail and Train Operating Companies.
- Must be compliant with rail operating guideline relating to control room operation and to attend and completing the Operations Controllers competency training course.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to ensure safety critical communication is clear, concise, and easily understood.
- Computer literacy - proficient use of Word, Excel, Project etc.
- Member of a recognised railway institute is desirable.
