School Administration Assistant

The Immunisation Service provides school-based immunisations in all primary and secondary schools across Coventry & Warwickshire.
The opportunity has arisen for motivated administration staff to provide support to our Coventry Immunisation & Vaccination team. You will visit Primary and secondary schools with the Nursing Team offering clerical and admin support to ensure smooth running of the sessions.
Applicants will need to have good organisation, literacy and numeracy skills, experience of using Excel spreadsheets, demonstrate good communication skills and be able to work independently and as part of a team.
You must like working with children and be comfortable working within a large busy school setting.
There will be substantial access to children’s information so therefore an enhanced Disclosure and Barring check will be required.
- To be responsible for the administration of immunisation sessions at school and in clinic, assessing risk, and ensuring the safety of the young people
- To participate and contribute to the development of training programmes, protocols and procedures as directed by the senior admin lead
- To work with young people, families, schools and communities to provide advice, and to support the immunisation nurse professionals on a range of immunisation issues
- To identify children and young people who need protection, which may include the interpretation of complex information about the child and family
- To professionally conduct yourself to ensure that you are an ambassador for your role and the service that you work for within and the Trust as a whole.
- To be able to work unsocial hours, e.g. weekends and early evenings, and support other immunisation programmes across the trust, as required.

During vaccination sessions communication with children and young people with regard to their paperwork
To participate in Immunisation and Vaccination team meetings and contribute to the development of the service.
The post holder will respond to queries from staff in an appropriate manner, and with reference to Data Protection and in accordance with Trust procedures.
Communicate with Immunisation and Vaccination team, staff within schools, children, Trust staff and visitors.
Basic, sensitive, complex and contentious information may be communicated.
The post holder may experience language barriers.
Verbal, phone and written communication will be used.
