**About Our Company**: Covy Children's Homes Ltd is a new company that specialises in providing support and care to children and young people aged 10 to 17 yrs, who have a primary diagnosis of autism and/or learning disabilities, and who present with challenging behaviour. Our first Home is Ofsted Registered. With a firm commitment to quality specialist training for all our staff, as well as a strong commitment to staff welfare, we look for a passion, resilience, and lasting desire to work with the children and young people at our developing Homes. We operate within a strong child-centred culture, where safeguarding is a priority. We are looking for a Residential Support Worker to join our core team as it develops. You will be responsible for engaging with the children in every aspect of their daily lives, supporting them wherever they have a need. You will be an important and influential part of a team in achieving positive developmental outcomes with the children, through understanding their needs, and working to agreed plans. Working with us requires a clear understanding of Safeguarding procedures. Good communication and recording skills are essential to this role, as is an ability to liaise with professionals, partner agencies, and families. This is a full-time position, with an average 40hrs per week worked on a rota basis, and some sleep-ins are required. In return for your commitment, a wage paid at £12.80/hour is offered, with sleep-ins paid at £65/night. To reward exceptional achievements and loyalty, a bonus scheme is in place. Apart from comprehensive Induction Training, and ongoing Specialist Training, there is the opportunity to undertake further professional training for those who qualify. Holiday entitlement is 28 days (inclusive of Bank Holidays). **Responsibilities**: **1. Primary** 1.1 To play a role in the establishment, maintenance and development of the safe environment and experience of the Home, thus providing children with a "home from home", a nurturing environment, within a clear Child-Centre Philosophy, conducive to their individual needs, personal happiness, and development. 1.2 To invest in the Home’s ethos and policies. 1.3 To be actively involved in planning and participating in the child’s recreational and social activities, and fully engage with individuals and the group in positive, enjoyable, and socially extending range of leisure pursuits. 1.4 To actively engage with children/young people as part of support at all times. 1.4 To respect and maintain confidentiality. **2. Children** 2.1 To establish good relationships with children based on confidence, trust, understanding, and mutual respect, setting a good example to all staff. 2.2 To support children in developing socially acceptable behaviour, and integrating them into the wider community. 2.3 To provide support to all children, giving guidance and counselling of a personal and social nature at a level which meets their developmental understanding. 2.4 To engage and supervise the children at all times, positively managing their challenging behaviours, while respecting their choices and opportunities. 2.5 To be responsible as key-worker for children undertaking casework, report writing, and initiating and implementing individual care plans. 2.6 Covy House is committed to the safeguarding and promotion of the welfare of all children, notwithstanding children in our care. All staff have an essential role and responsibility in this area. 2.7 To promote learning opportunities for each child, including supporting formal eduction. **3. Staff Group** 3.1 To participate in the Home’s Staff Development Programme, and your Personal Development Plan. 3.2 To attend and participate in all staff meetings. 3.3 To participate in all in-house training. 3.4 To be involved in the induction and initial support of new staff. 3.5 To communicate effectively with the team, provide support, and share in the common goals of the team as a whole. **4. Assessment, Recording, and Reporting.** 4.1 To make full use of the Home’s recording systems, ensuring that children's progress and development is evidenced accurately and fully. 4.2 To contribute towards reports as required, including individual child weekly/monthy summaries, review reports, and any other report requested. 4.3 To attend and contribute to Statutory Reviews, care planning, core group, education, or other meetings as required. 4.4 To complete daily/weekly monitoring checks. **5. Resources.** 5.1 To make effective and efficient use of the resources available within the Home, and to be aware of resources provided within the community. 5.2 To maintain the orderliness of the children’s living areas and social areas, and ensure that Health and Safety standards are fully maintained. 5.3 To ensure that Health and Safety Policies and Procedures are followed at all times, including environmental, fire safety, food hygiene policies and procedures. 5
