**Role Purpose**:
The Security Shift Leader is responsible for supporting the Security Contract in all aspects of the day to day security operations at The National Portrait Gallery (NPG)

**Role Detail**

Shift Pattern
- 4 on 4 off, Days Rolling Roster (42 hours)

Payrate
- £13.55 per hour

**_ Key Responsibilities_**
- _Take responsibility and accountability of all daily operations, and to support the Security Contract Manager and Duty Manager in the smooth running of the contract._
- _To manage, motivate and develop the on-site team to achieve the best possible performance and levels of service._
- _To have a thorough knowledge of routine and emergency procedures and be able to respond efficiently and appropriately to any eventuality._
- _To provide the highest level of customer service, ensuring that all persons either visiting or working at the site are treated courteously and professionally at all times._
- _Effectively oversee all CCTV monitoring and related tasks, in-line with SOPs._
- _To respond and manage all incidents and follow escalation procedures._
- _Communicate with operational staff concerning incidents, ensuring that all information escalation routines are observed._
- Support the Duty Manager by undertaking ‘first response' Incident Controller responsibilities in the event of an emergency situation, as outlined in the Gallery's Emergency Plan and Business Continuity Plan and other relevant emergency and contingency planning documents in the DM's absence
- _Management of site Access Control System, including oversight of alarm response, adding of access to passes, issuing of new staff passes and responsibility for termination and deletion of Security access passes in line with the site Joiner, Mover and Leaver process_
- _Provide the highest standards of written reports._
- _To support the administration, issue and return of all keys and radio communication equipment._
- _Comply with Mitie policies and procedures advising the Security Contract Manager and Security Duty Manager on any failures to comply and ensure the correct action is taken to resolve such issues._
- _To act as an ambassador to the client organisation ensuring that their business is represented in the highest manner in all the duties undertaken by you, and by the security team._

**Education & Experience**

**Essential**

Experience of managing CCTV and Access Control Systems.

Excellent communication skills to include the ability to compile reports.

Customer service experience/Leadership skills/experience or a willingness to develop supervisory skills.

Front Line SIA licence in Security Guarding (Essential) (Door Supervisor training to be given to upskill) and CCTV Licence (Desirable - willingness to be trained)

Excellent communication skills written and oral.

Excellent personnel management and client facing skills.

Ability to accurately interpret and follow a wide range of procedures and processes.

An alert, inquisitive and pro-active mindset is required to undertake investigations without direction.

A highly organised individual with the ability to work in a high-pressure and evolving environment.

An individual that is security minded, but also customer focused. Ability to build and maintain effective, professional working relationships with all, client, staff and visitors. Report and assessment writing.

**Desirable**

Experience with HR issues, including investigations and disciplinary procedures.

SIA Licence Door Supervisor (Desirable) and CCTV Licence (Desirable).

First Aid qualification.
