**Donor Assistant - Midlands (8 month maternity cover)**
This role is with our Midlands Collection Team, applicants must be within a 45 minute drive of Loughborough. Applicants must also have a full UK manual driving licence.
Award-winning animal charity, Pet Blood Bank UK, is recruiting Donor Assistants to work at venues across the Midlands. As part of the collection team, these roles involve working at donation sessions where lifesaving blood is collected from dogs. As a Donor Assistant, you are responsible for helping to run the session, including holding our donors while they give blood, running blood tests, assisting with paperwork, and ultimately making sure the donors have an enjoyable time. Our Donor Assistants also provide a support role based at Loughborough, maintaining the collection session kits and preparing paperwork for teams across the UK.

Launched in 2007, Pet Blood Bank UK is the only charity that provides a blood bank service for all vets across the UK. As part of our charitable remit, our aim is to advance animal health and welfare and to relieve suffering by providing quick and convenient access to blood. **What you’ll do**
Donor Assistant
- Assist the Veterinary Surgeon and Veterinary Nurse with all donors to ensure health check, donation and post donation tasks are carried out
- Assist with paperwork and running blood tests
- Help to hold our donors during the donation process
- Assist with monitoring donors throughout the donation process
- Provide lots of treats and positive reinforcement to donors and ensuring owners are at ease and thanked for their time
- Drive the PBB vehicles to and from sessions, this includes our Vauxhall Movano mobile unit.
- As part of the rota work at Loughborough packing and maintaining the collections kits, preparing paperwork for sessions and other associated admin tasks.
**What we need**
We’re looking for someone who is:
- An excellent communicator with strong customer care skills
- A team player
- Experienced in animal care, ideally with a qualification, and have confidence working with large breed dogs
- Flexible, our working days having varying start and finish times.
- Organised and proactive.
- Able to drive and access their own transport, comfortable travelling as a passenger or driver.

A 2-week rolling rota pattern;
Week 1 - Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, Sunday
Week 2 - Monday, Tuesday, Thursday
Salary - £19,500 per annum for full time role 37.5hrs/week. Please note this is not a full-time role.
30 days annual leave (pro-rata)
**Further details**
This role has varying start and finish times which can be as early as 6.15am and as late as 9.30pm (not the same day), occasional travel outside of the Midlands region is required. Shifts are 9 hours in length excluding the travel time to and from the venue.
