JOB OVERVIEW:

We are seeking a proactive and knowledgeable Deputy MLRO to support the firm's financial

crime framework with a strong focus on Anti-Money Laundering and Market Abuse. The role

will work closely with the MLRO to ensure the firm's compliance with applicable regulatory

obligations under UK Money Laundering Regulations, MAR, FCA rules, and relevant MiFID II

and CASS requirements.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in AML operations and investigations within

an FCA-regulated environment, combined with a solid understanding of investment, trading or

brokerage activities.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Support the MLRO and Head of Compliance in maintaining and enhancing the firm's AML/CTF and Market Abuse (MA) framework, policies, and procedures.
  • Act as the day-to-day point of contact for Financial Crime matters, including customer due diligence (CDD), enhanced due diligence (EDD), ongoing transaction monitoring, and Market Abuse surveillance.
  • Review and assess suspicious activity reports (SARs) and Market Abuse alerts (e.g., relating to insider dealing or market manipulation) and escalate to the MLRO/Compliance Officer where appropriate.
  • Conduct Financial Crime investigations (covering AML and MA breaches) and prepare reports for internal committees and regulatory requests.
  • Ensure effective implementation of Financial Crime risk assessments (including ML/TF and MA risks) across the business.
  • Provide Financial Crime-related training and guidance (covering AML/CTF and Market Abuse regulations) to business and operational teams.
  • Assist with periodic Financial Crime reviews, compliance monitoring, and internal audits.
  • Support regulatory reporting obligations, including SAR filings, suspicious transaction/order reports (STORs), and other relevant data submissions.
  • Contribute to ensuring frameworks align with Financial Crime controls, particularly around client asset protection and transaction oversight/Market Surveillance.
  • Conduct and review customer risk assessments and ensure risk ratings are appropriately documented and updated, considering potential Market Abuse risk factors.
  • Oversee periodic reviews of client files to ensure ongoing compliance with AML and KYC standards.
  • Ensure timely escalation, documentation, and filing of SARs and STORs to the MLRO/Compliance Officer and the relevant regulatory body/NCA where applicable.
  • Maintain a register of Financial Crime breaches (AML/CTF and MA) and remediation actions.
  • Liaise with external auditors, banks, and regulators on Financial Crime matters when required.
  • Keep up to date with regulatory developments and emerging risks relating to AML/CTF, Market Abuse (e.g., MAR), and broader financial crime.

WE ARE LOOKING FOR PEOPLE WHO HAVE:

  • Minimum of 7 years of AML/CTF experience, with strong focus on UK Regulations, in a fast-paced environment. Experience within Fintech industry is highly preferred.
  • Experience engaging with the
    FCA
    and other
    regulatory authorities.
  • Deep knowledge of AML legislation including the
    UK Money Laundering Regulations and JMLSG guidance.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
