Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO)

We're working with a growing sell-side institution seeking an experienced MLRO to lead its UK financial crime function. This is a pivotal role in a small, fast-moving branch — ideal for someone who enjoys autonomy, senior visibility, and building fit-for-purpose frameworks.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the registered SMF17, maintaining direct engagement with the FCA and law enforcement.
- Oversee all aspects of AML, CTF, sanctions, and fraud risk management, ensuring compliance with UK regulations and Group standards.
- Lead SAR reporting, the Firm-Wide Risk Assessment, and regular policy and control reviews.
- Advise on high-risk customers and transactions, providing pragmatic, risk-based guidance.
- Deliver MI and MLRO reports to senior management and governance committees.
- Promote a strong financial crime culture through training, assurance, and stakeholder engagement.
Key Requirements
- 8+ years' financial crime experience in banking, brokers, commodities, or similar sell-side institutions.
- Proven track record as Deputy MLRO or can have experience as an MLRO within a UK-regulated institution.
- Strong working knowledge of the Money Laundering Regulations, JMLSG, and FCA expectations.
- Skilled in transaction monitoring, screening systems, and producing quality MI.
- Confident communicator able to balance regulatory standards with commercial realities.
