The Role:
The Digital Programme Manager plays a pivotal role in shaping Hogarth's evolution toward AI-enabled production. In addition to managing web and content-at-scale programmes, the role is responsible for the coordination and delivery of AI and automation-powered initiatives, including WPP Open Pilots, Production Studio demos, proofs of concept, and innovation workstreams. This requires the ability to translate strategic ambitions into actionable delivery plans, bridging creative, technical, and operational teams to ensure that new technologies are deployed effectively and responsibly.

Reporting into one of our Global Digital Programme Directors, the Programme Manager oversees a portfolio of projects and a team of Project Managers, ensuring that all work is delivered on time, on budget, and to the highest standards of quality and client satisfaction.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Programme Leadership: Define, structure, and lead the delivery of complex multi-market digital programmes, ensuring alignment with client strategy, business objectives, and Hogarth's global operating model.
  • Team Management: Lead, coach, and develop a team of Project Managers and delivery specialists, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • AI-Driven Innovation: Manage the end-to-end delivery of AI-powered projects, pilots, and proofs of concept – from initial scoping and discovery through to implementation and optimisation.
  • Production Studio Delivery: Oversee an expanding pipeline of Production Studio projects that integrate automation, generative AI, and technology-led content production workflows.
  • Technical Translation: Act as the crucial bridge between client requirements and technical teams (AI specialists, data engineers, developers), translating complex concepts into clear actions and deliverables.
  • Agile Enablement: Promote agile and iterative delivery approaches suited to innovation environments; coach internal teams and clients to embrace experimentation and rapid learning.
  • Discovery & Foundations: Lead discovery workshops and design sessions that define the scope, success metrics, and operating model for AI and Production Studio projects.
  • Knowledge Transfer: Capture lessons learned and best practices from pilot projects to inform wider Production Studio scalability and operational maturity.
  • Stakeholder Management: Partner closely with senior client leads, internal production, and technical leadership to define programme success metrics and ensure stakeholder alignment.
  • Governance & Reporting: Establish programme governance frameworks, track progress against KPIs, and proactively manage risks, dependencies, and change control.
  • Commercial Oversight: Own programme-level financials including budgeting, forecasting, and profitability tracking.
  • Operational Excellence: Champion standardised delivery methodologies (Agile/Waterfall), workflow optimisation, and best-in-class project management practices across teams and markets.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Build strong relationships across Creative, Technology, Account Management, and Data teams to deliver integrated solutions that drive value for our clients.
  • Innovation: Contribute to the evolution of Hogarth's Production Studio proposition through insight, process improvement, and applied learning from delivery.

Requirements
All Programme Managers must demonstrate proven capability in the following areas:

  • Programme Management: Experience leading large-scale, multi-project digital programmes across multiple geographies and teams.
  • Team Leadership: Proven experience managing and mentoring project managers and delivery teams.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Ability to influence and communicate effectively with senior client and internal stakeholders.
  • Commercial Acumen: Skilled in budget ownership, cost forecasting, and financial tracking across large multi-market programmes.
  • Delivery Governance: Deep understanding of programme governance frameworks, risk management, and change control processes.
  • Technical Literacy: Strong familiarity with CMS platforms (Drupal preferred), web technologies, and integrated digital ecosystems.
  • Tools: Advanced knowledge of JIRA, Confluence, Smartsheet, and Office 365; experience using programme dashboards and resource management tools.
  • Methodologies: Experience managing hybrid delivery models (Agile and Waterfall).
  • Production Studio & Automation: Understanding of digital production workflows, automation technologies, and content at scale delivery models.
  • Client Servicing: Strong track record of building trusted client relationships and delivering excellence in execution.
  • Global Collaboration: Ability to work across time zones and cultures, coordinating on- and offshore teams to deliver consistently high-quality outcomes.

Experience:

  • Digital project/programme management roles, ideally within a large digital agency or global production environment.
  • Proven experience managing digital transformation, web platform, or AI enabled delivery programmes.
  • Familiarity with AI-powered production tools, automation platforms, and emerging technologies shaping the content and digital delivery landscape.
  • Experience working with cross-disciplinary teams that include creative technologists, AI SMEs, and data engineers.
  • Experience leading large, globally distributed teams.

Desirable Skills
