Responsibilities

With this role you'll be working as part of the Great Yarmouth team.  You will support people with their or their loved ones' drug and/or alcohol issues.  No two days are the same and we treat every person who comes into our service as an individual, so being flexible, curious and a good listener are key. What You'll Be Doing

In this role, you'll play a vital part in supporting individuals as they navigate their recovery journey. Whether you're using your lived experience, professional skills, or both, you'll help people find their strengths, overcome challenges, and create meaningful change in their lives.

  • Building Trust and Supporting Recovery: You'll be there from the very first contact, guiding individuals through assessments, planning, and onward referrals, ensuring they receive the support they need.
  • Promoting Growth and Independence: You'll encourage resilience, peer connections, and self-determination, empowering individuals to lead purposeful, fulfilling lives.
  • Reducing Harm and Fostering Integration: You'll help reduce the risks associated with substance use and support people in reconnecting with their communities.
  • Championing Advocacy and Access: You'll advocate for individuals to access services and resources, ensuring no barriers stand in their way.
  • Contributing to Meaningful Activities: You'll help design, deliver, and evaluate group activities that are creative, impactful, and tailored to those you support.

About you:

This role is for someone who is adaptable, eager to learn, and determined to empower others to overcome challenges. Whether your experience is personal, professional, or both, your unique perspective and willingness to grow make you an ideal candidate. If you're ready to bring your energy, compassion, and resilience to this role, we want to hear from you.

  • Lived Experience or Understanding of Substance Use Challenges: Your personal journey or understanding of substance use and recovery gives you a unique perspective and ability to empathise with those you support.
  • Strong Interpersonal and Communication Skills: You are a great listener, a clear communicator, and comfortable learning new IT skills to enhance your work.
  • Proactive and Eager to Learn: You bring energy and initiative, ready to develop your skills, manage your time effectively, and embrace challenges with a positive outlook.
  • Awareness of Mental Health and Recovery: Whether through experience or curiosity, you're passionate about understanding mental health and the journey to recovery, and you're ready to expand your knowledge in these areas.
  • Team-Oriented and Collaborative: You work well with others, valuing the strengths of diverse teams and building strong relationships with professionals, stakeholders, and the community.
  • A Commitment to Making a Difference: You understand the importance of safeguarding and confidentiality and are eager to grow, improve, and contribute to the success of the team and the people we support.

What We Offer:

  • 25 days holiday pro rata (plus bank holidays), increasing with length of service (up to 30 days)
  • Paid 'Wellness' hour each week and access to a dedicated Wellness Hub.
  • Employee Assistance Programme and access to staff discounts for shopping, cinema, and more.
  • Contributory pension scheme.
  • A friendly and supportive team environment.
  • Training and development opportunities to help you grow your career.
  • A refer-a-friend scheme with voucher reward if the candidate is successful.
