Healthcare Support Worker
Ward 29 is a 25-bedded general surgical ward with a specialist focus on urology. We pride ourselves on delivering exceptional patient care through compassion, professionalism, and strong teamwork. We are currently seeking dedicated Health Care Support Workers (HCSWs), formerly known as SHCAs, to join our dynamic team. If you have a caring nature, a passion for helping others, and a team-focused attitude, we would love to hear from you.
As a vital member of our ward, you will work closely with registered nurses to provide holistic care to our patients. Your role will involve supporting patients with personal hygiene including washing and dressing, providing pressure area care, assisting with nutritional needs, helping patients mobilise and transfer safely, recording vital signs, performing ECGs, and assisting with catheter care. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of our patients every day.
We offer a supportive and friendly environment where your contribution is valued, and you'll have opportunities for learning and development. If you're ready to be part of a team that puts patients first and works together to deliver outstanding care, apply now and help us continue to make Ward 29 a place we're proud of.
You will assist patients with personal care, hygiene, and safe moving and handling, including the use of appropriate equipment to reduce the risk of injury. You'll help meet patients' nutritional needs, including non-oral intake, and provide support at mealtimes for those who require assistance. Where identified in the care plan, you'll ensure accurate documentation of food and fluid intake and output. You will be involved in the admission and discharge process, assist with skin and pressure area care under the supervision of registered nurses, and help patients reposition to prevent discomfort or pressure ulcers. Safe mobilisation according to individual care plans will be part of your role, along with supporting rehabilitation and therapeutic activities. You'll also assist nursing staff in taking and recording vital signs and will be expected to communicate any changes in a patient's condition to the nurse in charge to ensure timely and appropriate care.
The Humber Health Partnership is one of the largest acute and community Partnership arrangements in the NHS, seeing well over one million patients every year and managing a budget of over £1.3 billion.

Together we employ nearly 20,000 staff. Our five main hospital sites are Diana, Princess of Wales Hospital, Scunthorpe General Hospital and Goole and District Hospital, for NLAG and Hull Royal Infirmary and Castle Hill Hospital for HUTH.
As Teaching Hospitals working with the Hull York Medical School, we both lead and contribute to research in many areas - biomedical research, primary care, palliative medicine, cardiovascular and respiratory medicine, vascular surgery, cancer surgery and oncology.
We believe that by developing a diverse, inclusive, innovative, skilled and caring workforce, we can deliver excellent care to our patients and a great future for our employees, our Partnership and our community.
