An exciting opportunity has arisen for a
Development Underwriter specialising in Professional Indemnity
to join a rapidly growing Financial Lines portfolio. This is a unique chance to step into a role with genuine breadth.

Not only will you underwrite traditional PI, but you'll also work across
Technology PI
and
Life Sciences
, offering variety and exposure rarely seen in the market.

The opportunity:

Due to continued portfolio growth and increasing broker demand, we're looking for an experienced PI underwriter to drive development across the Midlands up to Manchester. In this highly visible role, you'll be expected to complete
a minimum of 10 broker meetings per month
across your region, building relationships, generating new opportunities, and delivering strong technical and commercial underwriting decisions.

You'll be joining a collaborative, people-first environment that encourages autonomy, supports curiosity, and empowers underwriters to make a real impact.

What you'll be doing:

  • Underwriting and developing a broad range of
    Professional Indemnity
    ,
    Technology PI
    , and
    Life Sciences
    risks.
  • Driving new business growth and converting opportunities within your authority levels.
  • Building strong, productive relationships with brokers across your region through regular face-to-face engagement.
  • Providing a fast, solutions-focused service and becoming a trusted trading partner.
  • Managing your broker panel, identifying growth opportunities, and influencing positive outcomes.
  • Maintaining accurate pipeline and account information through agreed CRM practices.
  • Collaborating closely with Claims, Actuarial, Risk, Distribution, and other underwriting colleagues.
  • Representing the business at broker meetings, events, and market forums.
  • Supporting and mentoring colleagues to promote excellence across Financial Lines.

What We're Looking For:

  • Strong technical underwriting experience in
    Professional Indemnity
    (ideally 5+ years).
  • Exposure to or interest in
    Tech PI
    and
    Life Sciences
    is advantageous.
  • A proven track record in business development within a broker-driven market.
  • Excellent trading, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Self-motivated, relationship-led, and commercially minded.
  • Comfortable working autonomously across a regional patch.
  • Progress towards CII qualifications (DIP CII / ACII) welcomed.
