Employment Solicitor 

Salary: c£55,000 + Excellent Benefits

Our client, a highly respected multi-office law firm with a strong presence across Yorkshire, is seeking an experienced Employment Solicitor to join their thriving Commercial team at their modern York office. About the Role

As an Employment Solicitor, you'll manage a diverse and engaging caseload covering the full spectrum of both contentious and non-contentious employment law matters. You'll have the autonomy to develop strong client relationships, provide strategic advice, and make a tangible impact within a growing practice area.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Drafting and advising on contracts of employment and service agreements
  • Managing discrimination and whistleblowing claims
  • Handling disciplinary and grievance procedures
  • Negotiating and preparing settlement agreements
  • Advising on TUPE transfers and restructuring
  • Representing clients in unfair dismissal and wrongful dismissal claims
  • Preparing for and conducting Employment Tribunal advocacy
  • Providing strategic advice on redundancy and workforce reorganisation

This role offers excellent variety, working with both employer and employee clients, and the chance to develop your expertise across all areas of employment law.

What We're Looking For

Essential Requirements:

  • Solicitor with 5+ years' PQE in employment law (or relevant industry experience)
  • Strong technical knowledge across both contentious and non-contentious employment matters
  • Proven experience managing your own caseload with minimal supervision
  • Confidence advising both employers and employees on complex employment issues
  • Excellent client care and communication skills, with a personable, approachable manner
  • Commercial mindset with a practical, solutions-focused approach to legal advice
  • Ability to work independently whilst thriving within a collaborative team environment

Desirable:

  • Experience in business development or marketing activities
  • Employment Tribunal advocacy experience
  • Familiarity with employment law software and case management systems
