Senior Application Support Officer

3 months (initial) – starting December

Hours:
37 hours per week, Monday to Friday

Pay:
£400 per day (Umbrella) / £310.37 per day (PAYE)

Seven Resourcing is seeking a Senior Application Support Officer to join Bristol City Council's IT team. In this key role, you'll lead and manage a section of the Application Support Team, ensuring the smooth operation of the council's critical IT systems and applications.

You'll oversee a team of up to 10 officers, providing day-to-day supervision, planning, and direction to maintain productivity and service quality. The team's work covers system upgrades, helpdesk support, user access management, and service requests — all while ensuring excellent communication and minimal disruption to users and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage, develop, and improve Application Support policies, processes, and standards.
  • Oversee daily operations of the Application Support Function to ensure service levels are maintained and continuously improved.
  • Lead and coordinate system upgrades and ensure timely issue escalation to suppliers or senior management.
  • Liaise with suppliers and stakeholders to deliver best practice solutions and advice.
  • Analyse performance data, identify improvements, and promote a customer-focused approach.
  • Ensure compliance with data quality, data protection, and GDPR standards.
  • Support ongoing service improvements and system developments aligned with legislative and organizational change.
  • Measure and benchmark the performance of the Application Support Function to drive consistency and efficiency.

What You'll Bring:

  • Strong experience with Unit4 ERP Finance systems, including user support and system management.
  • Proven expertise in the Accounts Receivable (AR) module within Unit4 ERP.
  • Leadership experience within an IT support or application management environment.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and stakeholder management skills.
