Cancer Research UK's Internal Communications Team is part of our Communications department within the Policy, Information & Communication directorate. They collaborate across the organisation to manage and deliver internal communications for our 4,000 office staff and network of stores across the UK, providing strategic communications advice and developing high-impact campaigns, compelling content, and engaging activities to ensure colleagues and shop volunteers are informed, engaged and inspired.
We're looking for an Internal Communications Officer to provide sabbatical cover within our Trading Internal Communications team. In this role, you'll play an impactful role in the planning and delivery of engaging content across a range of internal platforms used by our stores and shop volunteers (e.g. intranet, email, newsletters, and SharePoint) in support of our organisational, trading, and internal communications strategies. This will involve managing weekly communications channels and leading on bespoke communications campaigns and projects in collaboration with a range of stakeholders and teams from beginning to end, while using data and feedback to evaluate our internal impact and drive improvements.

What will I be doing?
Regularly delivering a range of impactful internal communications projects and campaigns for Cancer Research UK's Trading department and stores. This will involve:
Ensuring internal communication activities align with Cancer Research UK's values, brand, and tone of voice.
Creating and delivering internal content via SharePoint, Intranet, and e-newsletters.
Collaborating closely with Trading teams and stakeholders to develop and deliver effective, multi-channel, and audience-led internal communications plans to support Trading's objectives and our broader organisational strategy.
- Managing and prioritising shared inbox communications requests, collaborating with stakeholders across the charity to deliver timely, effective communications.
- Responding to, and proactively managing, stakeholder enquiries, tracking and documenting progress to ensure timely resolution and effective record keeping.
- Collaborating closely with other internal communications colleagues to tailor and repurpose organisational-wide messages for Trading staff where relevant.
- Maintaining and updating the Intranet for Cancer Research UK's trading staff, ensuring information and resources are accessible, up-to-date, and user-friendly.
- Supporting the delivery of rapid and effective internal communications support during urgent or crisis situations, ensuring timely, clear, and coordinated messaging.
- Reviewing communications performance and impact using analytics, sharing regular insights and recommending improvements.
- Delivering high-quality operational and administrative comms support with attention to detail and consistency.
What are you looking for?
Experienced Internal Communications professional with a successful track record of delivering multi-channel internal communications (e.g. intranet, SharePoint, email, and newsletters) that support business objectives.
We're open to applicants from a range of backgrounds and do not require Retail or Charity experience for this role.
Experience planning and delivering internal communications projects and campaigns from start to finish.
- Strong content creation, proofreading and copywriting skills.
- Strong prioritisation, organisational, and project management skills with a proven ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects while delivering to deadlines with strong attention to detail.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with experience building credible, collaborative, and engaging internal stakeholder relationships.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a proven ability to tell a story and translate complex concepts into engaging, tailored content for a diverse range of internal audiences.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving with a solutions-driven approach and an ability to think creatively about ways to engage audiences.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and using a content management system to publish content (experience using SharePoint would be advantageous).
