About the Opportunity

We are seeking experienced NHS Operational Managers and Clinical Leaders to join a national programme designed to strengthen operational leadership capability across the health and care system.

This high-profileinitiative supports frontline leaders to develop the skills, mindset, and practical tools needed to drive measurable improvement in performance, culture, and patient experience.

As a Facilitator, you will play a pivotal role in delivering engaging, interactive training sessions that equip learners with the tools and confidence to lead improvement within their organisations.

About the Programme

This 12-month training journey combines a core improvement module with a series of pathway-specific modules, covering:

  • Urgent and Emergency Care
  • Elective Care
  • Outpatients
  • Cancer
  • Theatres
  • Diagnostics
  • Mental Health

The curriculum blends classroom teaching, peer learning groups, and real-world improvement projects, enabling learners to apply their learning immediately in practice.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging and dynamic training sessions (both in-person and virtual).
  • Facilitate discussions and exercises that connect learning to real NHS operational challenges.
  • Encourage collaboration and shared learning between participants from different trusts and care settings.
  • Use your operational experience to bring teaching content to life with relatable examples.
  • Support learners to reflect on and apply learning to their current roles and services
  • Provide feedback and contribute to the continuous improvement of the training programme.

What We're Looking For

You'll be an experienced NHS leader or manager with a passion for developing others. You'll bring authenticity, energy, and credibility to your facilitation.

Essential experience and skills:

  • NHS operational or clinical leadership experience (Band 8b or above).
  • A strong understanding of operational pathways such as UEC, Cancer, Outpatients, Theatres, Mental Health, or Diagnostics.
  • Proven ability to lead teams or manage services within the NHS.
  • Confident communication and facilitation skills.
  • Experience delivering or participating in quality improvement or service transformation projects.
  • Ability to adapt content and style to suit diverse learner groups.

Desirable:

  • Prior experience as a trainer, facilitator, or coach.
  • Knowledge of NHS improvement methodologies.
  • Understanding of adult learning principles.
