Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dynamic Activities Co-Ordinator to join our team in providing enriching experiences for residents in our assisted living and nursing home facilities. The ideal candidate will have a passion for senior care, particularly in dementia and Alzheimer's care, and will be responsible for planning, implementing, and overseeing engaging activities that promote social interaction, cognitive stimulation, and overall well-being among our residents. This is a part time position of 20 hours per week to include alternate weekends and some evening work.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive activities programme tailored to the interests and needs of residents.
- Coordinate and lead individual and group activities that enhance physical, emotional, and social well-being.
- Ensure a supportive environment that encourages resident participation and engagement.
- Liaise with caregivers and nursing staff to ensure activities are suitable for residents with varying levels of ability, including those with dementia or Alzheimer's.
- Maintain accurate records of resident participation and feedback to continually improve the activities offered.
- Organise special events, outings, and celebrations that all residents can partake in.
- Communicate with residents, families, and staff to promote upcoming activities and gather input on preferences.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in assisted living or nursing home settings is essential.
- A background in senior care or caregiving is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with dementia care practices is an asset; training may be provided for the right person.
- Excellent communication skills to engage effectively with residents, families, and team members.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Strong organisational skills to manage multiple activities simultaneously.
