Main duties of the job

An opportunity to work with the surgery care group team as access manager. The role will work with the operational team to oversee the RTT recovery for the care group.

Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities
The role will lead the performance team in the validation of the surgery PTL, work with admin and clinical teams to manage waiting lists and patient pathways and support with the education of admin teams in patient pathways.

The ideal candidate will have an eye for detail and able to work autonomously but also as part of a wider team.

The role will be onsite working due to the need to support the wider administrative teams.

Qualifications / Training Required
Essential criteria

  • Degree or equivalent experience or training
  • Good knowledge of a range of administrative systems and processes
  • Proven skill in utilisation of data analysis IT systems and Microsoft office packages
  • Wide breadth of speciality knowledge in relation to access activities

Desirable criteria

  • Experience of developing programmes/systems that monitor and improve efficiency or safety in a healthcare environment
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
  • Evidence of project/programme management

Previous or Relevant Experience Necessary

Essential criteria

  • Significant operational and service management experience within a Health setting
  • Detailed specialist knowledge of health service and trust policy in relation to access and nationally agreed targets
  • Proficient knowledge of all hospital computerised patient management systems
  • Experience of dealing with non routine and complex problems, chasing progress and ensuring appropriate resource management
  • Working in a collaborative multidisciplinary environment
  • Ability to collaborate and contribute to cost improvement and service improvement projects
  • Experience of working directly with colleagues, commissioners, patients and their families in responding to complaints or queries related to access to services

Desirable criteria

  • Able to demonstrate evidence of effective financial management
  • Experience of developing user/carer involvement
  • Experience of complex change management
  • Skills/experience of working with senior clinicians
