Job Description

An established provider of process-related operations is looking to recruit an experienced, hands-on
Safety, Health, Environment & Quality (HSEQ) Manager
with a strong process safety background. The site operates as a
lower-tier COMAH facility
, therefore experience with COMAH regulations is essential.

This is a fast-paced role within a growing business, requiring someone with a proactive mindset, a flexible approach, and strong attention to detail. The successful candidate will join the site leadership team and play a key part in driving standards and performance across the operation.

This role is NOT remote.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure full compliance with COMAH regulations
  • Conduct and chair HAZID, HAZOP, and LOPA studies alongside relevant specialists
  • Manage the COMAH intervention plan
  • Maintain and oversee reporting systems
  • Compile statistics for internal reports and presentations
  • Develop and write internal H&S procedures, SOPs, toolbox talks, safety alerts, and one-point lessons
  • Manage occupational health & hygiene programmes
  • Investigate and record injuries, near misses, environmental events, and cases of ill health
  • Manage site objectives and performance targets
  • Conduct internal audits
  • Monitor training and compliance systems (e.g., EdApp / MYC)
  • Liaise with external authorities where required
  • Implement and drive continual improvement initiatives

Person Specification

Essential:

  • Experience in a SHEQ/HSE/HSEQ-related role
  • COMAH experience
  • NEBOSH or equivalent qualification
  • Strong process safety background
  • Working knowledge of reaction chemistry
  • Strong organisational skills
  • Excellent PC skills
  • Experience working with SHEQ reporting systems
  • RCA / incident investigation experience

Desirable:

  • Experience auditing ISO45001, ISO14001 & ISO9001
  • IOSH / IEMA / IChemE membership
  • Background in chemical, waste, petrochemical, or similar sectors
