Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive health and safety policies.

  • Offer strategic advice on health and safety matters to senior leadership.

  • Lead risk management initiatives in collaboration with the Executive Director, Finance.

  • Ensure adherence to all relevant health and safety laws and regulations.

  • Conduct regular audits, inspections, and risk assessments.

  • Maintain detailed records of incidents and compile necessary reports for leadership and regulatory bodies.

  • Liaise with external agencies, including the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and local authorities.

  • Create and deliver training programmes on health and safety best practices.

  • Ensure all staff receive appropriate inductions and ongoing professional development.

  • Serve as the primary contact for health and safety training needs across the Trust.

  • Oversee the reporting and investigation of accidents and incidents.

  • Collaborate with site managers to ensure safe working environments.

  • Implement a Trust-wide health and safety monitoring system.

  • Develop and test emergency response plans, including fire evacuation and lockdown procedures.

  • Support schools in managing critical incidents and conducting post-incident reviews.

  • Ensure all schools have adequate first aid provision and accident reporting procedures.

Skills and Experience Required:

  • Proven experience in a senior health and safety role, ideally within an educational or multi-site environment.

  • In-depth knowledge of health and safety legislation and best practices.

  • Strong leadership and strategic planning skills.

  • Excellent communication and training abilities.

  • Experience in conducting audits, inspections, and risk assessments.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders.
