Role Overview

We're looking for a dynamic and detail-driven Payroll Administrator to be at the heart of a major transformation initiative across the UK and Ireland Payroll function.

This isn't just payroll as usual. It's a chance to help reimagine how we deliver payroll in a complex, fast-evolving environment. You'll be joining a team committed to simplifying, modernising, and automating our in-house payroll operations, and your insights will help drive that change.

We need problem-solvers with a transformation mindset. People who thrive in complexity, spot inefficiencies, and take initiative.

Key Requirements

  • Administer end-to-end payroll processing for UK and Ireland employees across multiple pay frequencies
  • Ensure compliance with statutory regulations and internal policies
  • Process statutory payments such as SSP, SMP, SPP in line with current legislation.
  • Manage pension contributions and auto-enrolment duties, including liaison with pension providers
  • Coordinate year-end activities, including P60s, P11Ds, and HMRC submissions
  • Maintain accurate payroll records and audit trails
  • Respond to payroll queries with professionalism and empathy, even in challenging situations
  • Uphold process integrity and manage requests that fall outside standard procedures
  • Liaise with HR, Finance, and operational teams to resolve payroll issues
  • Support the implementation of process improvements and system enhancements
  • Assist with reporting and analytics for internal and external stakeholders
  • Contribute to the development of payroll procedures and documentation

About You

  • Proven experience in payroll administration, ideally in a multi-site or complex environment
  • Strong understanding of UK and Irish payroll legislation
  • A recognised payroll qualification (e.g. CIPP or IPASS) is desirable
  • High attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to manage sensitive conversations calmly and constructively
  • Confidence to uphold processes and manage expectations, even when under pressure
  • Comfortable working with manual processes while contributing to future improvements
  • Experience with unionised environments and shift-based payrolls is a plus
  • Knowledge of GDPR and data protection principles as they relate to payroll
  • Proficiency in payroll systems; experience with iTrent is an advantage
  • Familiarity with Crown Time & Attendance systems
  • Strong Excel skills, including working with formulas, lookups, and data validation
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
  • Comfortable navigating manual processes and off-system tracking
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues
