We are now one of Omagh's largest private employers with over 200 team members and we need to continue to grow our team to support our growth.We are now looking to fulfil the role of aNew Product Development (NPD) Design Engineer – Crushing & ScreeningAbout The RoleUnder general supervision of the Lead Engineer, the NPD Design Engineer is responsible for design efforts from inception through production in new product development.This position will focus onMobile Plants.These are self-powered and self-contained rock crushing and screening plants mounted on a tracked platform for mobility. These plants incorporate, on board power systems, hydraulics, electrical controls and mechanical systems including drives, crushers, feeders, screens and conveyors.The successful candidate will work in collaboration with other engineers, cross-functional teams not limited to sales, manufacturing, purchasing, and service. They will develop conceptual and final design solutions, manage and coordinate project activities, support existing product offerings, and perform testing or analysis of new and existing products to further Astec's product line development goals.The preferred site location is Omagh, Northern Ireland.You will be trained to industry best practice standards and work with leading technologies and software. These investments are the foundation upon which the next phase of growth will be built upon and the team in Omagh are seeking the very best talent to join them in their journeyReady to grow your career with a company that values innovation, ambition, and personal growth?Required CriteriaFollow and actively support all company policies and procedures, to include a primary emphasis on safe operations.Minimum of bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Agriculture, Mechatronics, Industrial Engineering or related field.Minimum 3 years' experience in equipment design and manufacturing (mechanical, structural, hydraulic and electrical/control system design).Ability to take responsibility for the completion of projects - achieving due dates and pre-defined requirements defined by management while working independently with minimal supervision.Ability to support designs through procurement, build and test.Innovative and able to come up with new design concepts and solutions to problems encountered during the design process.Proficient with personal computing, Microsoft Office Suite, 3-D CAD software applications (SolidWorks preferred) and ERP systems.Ability to develop and/or guide necessary computations such as load development, stress analysis, performance measurement, hydraulic circuit analysis, costing, etc. and interpret the results as necessaryUnderstanding/experience with the engineering design process and new product development.Ability to read, interpret and create engineering drawings and standardsUnderstanding of materials, materials sciences and material properties as they relate to engineering decisions and materials selection.Ability to make a financial and technical case for engineering design decisions.Understanding of manufacturing practices including cutting, forming and welding of metals.Maintain positive, cooperative working relationships by working, interacting, and communicating with various personalities, getting along with customers, vendors, co-workers and management, working both individually and as part of a team.Good organization and time-management skills.Desired CriteriaExperience in the design of complete Mobile Crushing or Screening plants from concept through to production.Experience in the use of FEA.Closing DateFriday 7th November, 2025Contract TypefulltimeSalaryBased on Experience
