Job DescriptionLocation:Astec Industries Europe Limited, 3 Bankmore Way EastWe are seeking aCustom Projects Design Engineerto join our team, specialising inMaterial Handling Equipmentfor the aggregate industry.Reporting to theSenior Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for driving design initiatives from concept through to production, supporting the successful delivery of new project developments.This role will primarily focus on equipment such astracked conveyors, hopper feeders, truck unloaders, and telescopic stackers.About The RoleYou'll work hand-in-hand with other engineers and partner across teams such as sales, manufacturing, purchasing, and service. In this role, you'll take ideas from concept through to final design, help manage and coordinate project activities, and play a key part in supporting our existing product range. You'll also get involved in testing and analysis of both new and current equipment—contributing directly to Astec's mission of driving innovation and expanding our product portfolio.The preferred site location is Omagh, Northern Ireland.You will be trained to industry best practice standards and work with leading technologies and software. These investments are the foundation upon which the next phase of growth will be built upon and the team in Omagh are seeking the very best talent to join them in their journeyReady to grow your career with a company that values innovation, ambition, and personal growth?Required CriteriaFollow and actively support all company policies and procedures, to include a primary emphasis on safe operations.Minimum of bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Agriculture, Mechatronics, Industrial Engineering or related field.Minimum 3 years' experience in equipment design and manufacturing (mechanical, structural, hydraulic and electrical/control system design).Ability to take responsibility for the completion of projects - achieving due dates and pre-defined requirements defined by management while working independently with minimal supervision.Innovative and able to come up with new design concepts and solutions to problems encountered during the design processProficient with personal computing, Microsoft Office Suite, 3-D CAD software applications (SolidWorks preferred) and ERP systems (Epicor/Oracle preferred).Ability to develop and/or guide necessary computations such as load development, stress analysis, performance measurement, hydraulic circuit analysis, costing, etc. and interpret the results as necessary.Understanding/experience with the engineering design process and new product development.Ability to read, interpret and create engineering drawings and standards.Understanding of materials, materials sciences and material properties as they relate to engineering decisions and materials selection.Ability to make a financial and technical case for engineering design decisionsUnderstanding of manufacturing practices including cutting, forming and welding of metals.Maintain positive, cooperative working relationships by working, interacting, and communicating with various personalities, getting along with customers, vendors, co-workers and management, working both individually and as part of a team.Good organization and time-management skills.Desired CriteriaExperience in the design of bespoke material handling plant from concept through to production.Experience in the use of FEAClosing DateFriday 14th November, 2025Contract TypefulltimeSalaryBased on Experience
