Senior Management Accountant (6-Month Fixed-Term Contract)

Salary: £50,000 - £60,000

Elevation Recruitment Group are delighted to be supporting our client with the recruitment of a Senior Management Accountant to join their finance team in Sheffield on an initial 6-month fixed-term contract with an immediate start. This is a great opportunity for an experienced accountant to step into a busy, hands-on role where they can add value quickly and provide vital financial support to the wider business.

The Role

As Senior Management Accountant, you will take responsibility for producing accurate and timely management accounts and supporting financial analysis to inform key decisions. You will work closely with the Finance Manager and senior stakeholders, ensuring effective controls, insightful reporting and smooth month-end delivery.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Preparing monthly management accounts and supporting schedules
  • Producing detailed variance analysis and discussing results with site managers
  • Completing balance sheet reconciliations and posting monthly journals, including accruals, prepayments and depreciation
  • Preparing regular cashflow forecasts and assisting with audit requirements
  • Reviewing aged debtors and creditors, resolving queries and improving reporting accuracy
  • Delivering ad hoc financial analysis and recommendations to support decision making

The Person

To be successful in this Senior Management Accountant position, you will need to demonstrate:

  • Proven experience preparing full monthly management accounts in line with deadlines
  • Qualified by Experience (QBE) or fully qualified accountant - able to hit the ground running
  • Strong Excel skills with the ability to manipulate and interpret large data sets
  • Excellent communication skills with confidence engaging non-finance stakeholders
  • A proactive, organised and detail-focused approach
  • Experience using Sage 200 and working in a multi-site organisation (desirable)
