Job Overview
We are launching an exciting new, contemporary Korean restaurant on Ormeau Road and are seeking a talented and dedicated sous chef to join our opening team. This is a fantastic chance to be a key player in shaping the culinary direction and success of a vibrant new dining destination. You'll work closely with the Executive Chef and owners to deliver authentic and innovative Korean cuisine to the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities
As our Sous Chef, you will be the Executive Chef's crucial partner, leading the kitchen's day-to-day operations and maintaining our high standards of quality and efficiency.
Your primary duties will include:
- Culinary Excellence: Execute, prepare, and plate all dishes precisely to the specifications, maintaining a strong focus on authentic Korean technique and flavour.
- Service Leadership: Lead and direct the kitchen team during service, managing the pace and workflow to ensure timely and consistent output.
- Team Development: Assist in training and mentoring junior kitchen staff, actively building a positive, disciplined, and professional work environment.
- Inventory & Cost Control: Take ownership of stock management, including monitoring inventory levels, placing supplier orders, and enforcing proper rotation to effectively minimise waste and control costs.
- Quality & Safety: Ensure the entire kitchen consistently adheres to all health, safety, and hygiene standards.
- Creative Contribution: Collaborate with the Executive Chef and owners to contribute innovative and creative ideas for menu development, seasonal specials, and new recipes.
- Operational Integrity: Oversee the proper cleaning and maintenance of all kitchen equipment, promptly reporting any necessary repairs.
Skills and experience
- Proven Experience: A minimum of 2 years experience as a Sous Chef, Junior Sous Chef, or Chef de Partie in a fast-paced, high-quality restaurant environment.
- Leadership: Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to motivate a team under pressure.
- Qualifications: Food Safety and Hygiene certification (Level 2 or 3) is essential.
