Job Description
As a Business Systems Development Manager, you will focus on providing people and technical leadership for the team, whilst driving delivery of our varied portfolio of applications and solutions.
Business Systems Solutions is a vital technology function set up to support the wider growth of the Business.
Our mission is to leverage a diverse array of technologies, including Artificial Intelligence (AI), to create custom-built solutions and implement third-party products and services that enhance Business processes, driving effectiveness, efficiency, scalability and sustainability.
You will ensure there is a clear vision for the development team, and a roadmap to achieve it, whilst aligning it to the strategic vision is key to the Company's success. You will champion and drive adoption of processes and best practices, which will make it possible for the team to deliver quality, innovative solutions to the Business.
Embracing AI wherever there are clear benefits and influencing the team in the adoption of these opportunities. You will be influential in our cloud first approach for our portfolio of applications and the continued adoption of an agile development practice.
This role is eligible for inclusion in the Company's hybrid working from home policy.
Qualifications
- Ability to lead technical solutions, people, delivery and strategy.
- Experience in software development delivery.
- Ability to manage and make well balanced decisions in a fast-paced environment and time-sensitive situations.
- Ability to manage multiple streams of activity with shifting focus.
- Well organised and skilled in effective people management, coaching, task allocation, delegation and risk management.
- Demonstrable experience of effective communication both written and verbally in technical and non-technical subjects to both a technical and Business audience.
- Ability to focus on the importance of the Business needs.
- Experience in application development, deployment and support in public cloud.
- Knowledge and expertise of agile development, including the management of teams working in this manner, including the ability to coach and mentor.
- Familiarity of AI and ability to identify opportunities to leverage its use and to influence adoption.
Additional Information
- Working with technology stakeholders and other technical staff from the wider Business to ensure appropriate, fit for purpose and simple solutions are defined, planned and delivered within the team.
- Ensuring there is capacity and capability to deliver the volume of work required of the Business.
- Managing the support and development responsibilities required of the team, ensuring support is available where required.
- Understanding of the workload and work items distributed amongst the team as well as the larger works spanning the department.
- Ensuring the efforts and requirements of both resource and time are understood whilst assessing impacts, risks and costs in delivering the work within the team, building, and maintaining capacity to deliver the Business needs.
- Committing to the deliverables of the team and the department for larger works.
- Taking ownership of issues and development deliverables in a managerial capacity seeing them through from start to finish.
- Ensuring process and best practices are adopted, adhered to, and reviewed within the team.
- Monitoring and optimising workloads to ensure collaboration and efficiency at both team and Business Systems Solutions departmental level.
- Driving adoption of the latest innovation and technologies within the software engineering and AI arenas.
