World Rugby is the world governing and law-making body for the sport of Rugby Union. In addition to its governance functions, World Rugby organizes a number of major international tournaments and events, such as the Rugby World Cups (women's and men's), the annual Rugby Sevens Series and the developmental Women's WV international tournament.

World Rugby is now on a mission to innovate to excite, inspire and engage new audiences in existing and new rugby markets, to grow the sport for all. Through World Rugby Events & Media (WREM), the delivery of major tournaments under a new model will be key to the success of a ten year strategic plan which will see Rugby World Cups in England in 2025, Australia in 2027 & 2029, and culminating in ground breaking tournaments in the USA in 2031 and 2033. Under the new model, World Rugby will have a more direct role in the setting up, running and delivery of the Rugby World Cups and aims to be the leader in the delivery of major international events.

Overview

World Rugby are seeking to appoint a detail-oriented Brand and Rights Approvals Manager, reporting into the Director of Brand Operations, to oversee and co-ordinate the global usage of World Rugby's IP around all its tournaments; ensuring consistency, compliance, and alignment with brand guidelines and commercial and non-commercial contractual rights. This role is essential in safeguarding the integrity of our brand and the rights of our key stakeholders across all internal and external channels. You will play a pivotal role in shaping how our brand is perceived globally. Join a dynamic team where your expertise will directly impact the success and reputation of our organisation.

PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Management of World Rugby Brand Approvals

Managing the approvals team to ensure all brand approvals are processed within contractual turnaround timesReview and approve branded content, including marketing materials, digital assets, products, and advertisements, to ensure alignment with brand guidelinesProcessing approvals from all World Rugby commercial and non-commercial stakeholders; sponsors, organising committees, host cities, tourism, government, rugby unions etc. (previous tournaments have generated upwards of 16,000 approval submissions)Presenting, onboarding and working closely with all stakeholders in the build up to approvals submissions to ensure their promotions and campaigns respect all commercial contracts and brand guidelinesWork closely with internal teams with the World Rugby's partnerships, marketing, legal and operations teams to guide and facilitate the brand approval processDevelop, document, and refine the approval workflow to increase efficiency and reduce bottlenecks

Managing all use of World Rugby IP

Working with all World Rugby official stakeholders on their use of the World Rugby's IP. Advising on what is and isn't possible and being able to clearly express the reasons why. The candidate should be strong minded and confident enough to defend the brands where necessary as stakeholders often push the limitsWork closely with both the Director of Brand Operations and Designers on developing new and dynamic applications of the World Rugby brands across multiple platformsManage the consistent implementation of  World Rugby brands across all consumer touch points

Management of Online Brand and Approvals Portal

Update portal content when new elements are made available to stakeholders Maintain a repository of assets for easy access and reference by stakeholdersManaging stakeholder access and permissionsTrack approval timelines and outcomes to identify patterns or areas for improvementProvide regular updates to leadership on the status of key projects and approvals

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field.Minimum 3-5 years of experience in brand management, marketing, or a related role, preferably in a fast-paced corporate or agency environmentExperience leading successful teams, fostering a high performance culture. Experience of managing external stakeholder relationships Experience of navigating complex stakeholder groups and collaborating cross-functionally, seeking out opportunities and solutions

Flexible Working:

Most of our roles offer hybrid working.  We ask colleagues to work :


Three (3) days a week "out of home".  Two (2) "core" office days (Tuesday & Wednesday) and a third day of your choice to be with stakeholders. "Out of home" can mean working in a World Rugby office/hub, working from a venue or face to face meetings with partners/suppliers/agencies/teammates or other rugby family stakeholders. 


The remaining two (2) days are flexible to work from home (or the office). This applies to our Dublin & London offices.
