This is an exciting opportunity for the right individual to join St John's Approved Premises as a Relief Support Worker. The role will include working in a residential setting, working with men over the age of 18 coming out of prison, often with mental health issues, substance misuse and assessed as high risk to others. The work is both highly rewarding and challenging at times, working alongside multi agency teams with development and training opportunities. The role includes providing double cover, working 12-hour shifts covering full-time staff on the ROTA which will include working waking nights, some weekends and bank holidays. Flexibility is required for this role. Full training and induction will be provided and will present a great opportunity to get involved in the Criminal Justice sector.

MAIN PURPOSE OF POST:

To provide double cover for the Approved Premises. To ensure smooth running of the Approved Premises and deal with any discipline enforcement issues. To assist in the management of the Approved Premises in the absence of Manager/Deputy and communicate as necessary with the on-call Manager. To contribute to the reduction of re-offending and /or the serious harm to self or others. This is a highly responsible role, with a high level of professionalism expected.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Assist in the day to day running of the Approved Premises for the behaviour control of its residents. To ensure compliance with the safe working practices of St Johns and to ensure all daily tasks are completed as required i.e., room searches, hostel routine, administration of medication etc.

  2. Supervision of the provision of meals

  3. Contribute to and support individual residents' assessments/ Supervision plans to include cover and attendance at link work sessions / three way and multi-agency meetings as necessary.

  4. To contribute to some Rehabilitative Activities as required under the Approved Premises Manual as detailed on Equip. To ensure accurate and detailed recording on nDelius, and in-particularly on the NSI lines to ensure compliance with the Approved Premises Dashboard recording.

  5. Contribute to the risk management of residents, liaise as required with partner agencies i.e., Police, Probation and take part in joint meetings. To carry out enforcement instructions as required.

  6. To maintain accurate Approved Premises recording and ensure the sharing of information as appropriate. To prepare written reports as required.

  7. Contribute to the pro-social environment of the Approved Premises in dealings with residents, staff, and visitors.

  8. Work within Approved Premises policies with particular regard to Health and Safety. To comply with relevant legislation and follow policy and practices. To ensure daily/weekly checks are completed fully.

  9. To promote diversity and anti–discriminatory practice to all service users and staff in line with national and local policies

  10. To demonstrate commitment to user involvement in planning and delivery of services

  11. To work to the development and maintenance of the Enabling Environment accreditation award.

  12. Such other duties as may be required which are appropriate to the work and are commensurate with the responsibilities of the post.

Salary: £12.21 per hour, night shift is an additional £3.05 per hour unsocial hours allowance between 22:00 and 07:00. Plus holiday allowance.
