Head Chef vacancy – Murrayfield Golf Club

Murrayfield Golf Club has a rare opportunity for a highly organised and enthusiastic Head Chef. This is a unique Cheffing opportunity:

  • Only limited evening work is required
  • Our core kitchen hours are 9am-4pm
  • We also endeavour to give kitchen staff at least one full weekend off in 4

Who are we looking for?

The club is looking for a leader in the kitchen, someone who will encourage and get the best out of a small team and ensure that our kitchen is an enjoyable place to work.

You will have the opportunity to take the reins in the kitchen, which could include proposing new menus, improving processes or simply coming up with fresh ways for the team to work better together

Skills:

  • You will have experience managing a busy kitchen and enjoy training and developing your team
  • Preparation and planning is fundamental so you will be highly organised and process driven
  • You communicate well and recognise the importance of this across the wider F&B operation
  • You exceed the standards required with regard to H&S, food hygiene, inventory management and cleanliness so as to guarantee the care of your team and our members
  • Excellent food preparation and cooking abilities

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Head Chef or senior Sous Chef with at least 5 years experience
  • Appropriate Food Hygiene Qualifications and able to demonstrate best practice
  • Understanding and knowledge of Human Resources management
  • Right to work in UK
  • Physically fit for the tasks involved
  • Proficient knowledge of kitchen BOH operations
  • Full understanding of administration required within a busy kitchen
  • A reasonable degree of work flexibility in line with the needs of a member club catering operation

Salary and benefits:

  • 40-44 hours pw, Salary range £38-£40k depending on qualifications, skills and experience
  • 6-monthly club bonus
