Role Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Software Development Lead to design and oversee the integration of Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) and bespoke software within a complex defence environment. The role focuses on software architecture, integration, and technical leadership, ensuring scalable, secure, and high-performing solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and implementation of software integration strategies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and deliver integration requirements.
  • Analyse existing systems, identify integration points, and resolve challenges.
  • Apply architectural best practices to ensure scalability and maintainability.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to development teams.
  • Select and implement suitable integration technologies and tools.
  • Ensure compliance with architectural and quality standards.
  • Monitor and optimise system performance.
  • Work with vendors and third parties to deliver seamless software integrations.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years in software development and integration (Python, C#, PowerShell, CI/CD).
  • Strong understanding of SOA, Microservices, and API design.
  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, VMware, Ansible, Terraform, and virtualised systems.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience working within defence or other highly regulated environments.
  • Familiarity with Agile and DevOps practices.

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of data integration techniques (ETL, data mapping).
  • Certifications in software architecture or integration technologies.
