Working Hours: 07:00 – 19:00 daily

Hours: 4 days on 4 days off rota

Contract Duration: This role is offered on a fixed-term basis for the duration of an external service contract. The end date is currently unconfirmed and may vary depending on project timelines. Reasonable notice will be provided in the event of any changes.

Role Overview

This role involves the Caretaker maintaining the cleanliness and safety of some unoccupied buildings. This is a solo-working role, ensuring the premises remain in good condition, supporting basic upkeep, and providing a reassuring presence through regular checks and reporting. The caretaker will be helping to preserve the building's readiness for future use.

Main Duties & Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular patrols to check for signs of damage, leaks, or unauthorised access
  • Ensure all doors, windows, and access points are locked and secure
  • Report any issues promptly, including vandalism, trespassing, or maintenance concerns

Cleaning & Hygiene Maintenance

  • Carry out routine cleaning of key areas
  • Prevent dust build-up and maintain hygiene in designated zones
  • Prepare spaces for occasional use or inspection as required

Waste Management & Room Clearance

  • Remove rubbish and unwanted items from rooms and shared spaces
  • Support site-wide waste disposal procedures, including recycling and safe handling

Basic Grounds Care

  • Assist with light outdoor tasks such as leaf sweeping, litter picking, and tidying entrances
  • Maintain clear and safe pathways and external access points
  • Carry out light gardening tasks such as weeding, tidying borders, and maintaining entrance areas

Compliance & Record-Keeping

  • Keep simple records of completed tasks, room status, and waste disposal
  • Follow site procedures for health & safety, safeguarding, and infection control
  • Support deliveries and help store equipment or supplies safely

  • Careful and thorough in cleaning and caretaking tasks
  • Physically fit and comfortable with manual handling
  • Basic understanding of cleaning standards and hygiene practices
  • Clear communication skills for reporting and record-keeping
  • Awareness of health & safety and safeguarding protocols
  • Confidence in following site rules and securing premises
