The Role

We're looking for a dynamic
Business Development Director
to lead and grow strategic client relationships, identify new business opportunities, and drive Assystem's market position within the UK and global energy sectors. This senior role is critical to shaping our business strategy, expanding our client network, and ensuring our continued success in a rapidly evolving low-carbon landscape. The role can be based from any of our UK offices, but will require a degree of travel across the UK and occasionally internationally.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive sector and market plans to support strategic growth.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key clients, partners, and industry stakeholders.
  • Identify new business opportunities and lead proactive pursuit activities across energy sectors.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to align business development initiatives with delivery capability.
  • Lead and contribute to bid strategies, ensuring competitive positioning and client alignment.
  • Manage strategic accounts to ensure profitability and long-term partnership value.
  • Represent Assystem at industry events and contribute to thought leadership through publications and presentations.
  • Stay informed of market trends, emerging technologies, and policy developments to inform business strategy.

Qualifications

About You

  • Proven track record in business development or client relationship management, ideally within the energy, engineering, or infrastructure sectors.
  • Strong understanding of market dynamics and strategic planning.
  • Skilled in building partnerships and influencing at senior stakeholder level.
  • Experience leading bids, proposals, and capture plans for complex technical projects.
  • Commercially astute, with a focus on achieving sustainable and profitable growth.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • A collaborative leader who thrives in a fast-paced, purpose-driven environment.
