About the Role
Are you passionate about making a difference in your local community?
Do you enjoy meeting people, organising events, or getting stuck in to help a good cause?
We're looking for enthusiastic Volunteer Community Fundraisers to help raise vital funds and awareness for Scarborough, Whitby and Ryedale Mind.
This is a great opportunity to be part of a friendly team, support mental health locally, and have fun along the way.
About SWR Mind
Scarborough, Whitby and Ryedale Mind is a local mental health charity supporting adults and young people aged 11+ who are struggling with their mental health.
All the money raised by our volunteers stays right here in our community — helping us provide life-changing services, from crisis support to wellbeing groups.
As a Volunteer Community Fundraiser, you'll play a key part in helping us continue this work and reach more people who need us.
What You'll Do
As a community fundraiser you'll:
- Help plan, organise, and manage community fundraising events and collections.
- Promote SWR Mind's events and campaigns locally.
- Assist at bucket collections, fairs, and community events.
- Attend community events to talk to individuals and groups about our work.
- Build relationships with local businesses and organisations to encourage support.
- Help secure permissions or licences for collections or events (where needed).
- Share ideas for new and creative ways to raise funds
You can contribute as much time as you're able — every bit of support makes a difference.
What We're Looking For
You don't need fundraising experience — just enthusiasm, reliability, and a willingness to get involved.
We'd love to hear from people who:
- Enjoy meeting and talking to people.
- Are passionate about mental health and community causes.
- Are organised, proactive, and good at coming up with ideas.
- Can work well as part of a team.
- Are confident representing SWR Mind at local events.
What You'll Gain
- The chance to make a realdifference in your local community.
- Experience in event planning, community engagement, and fundraising.
- The opportunity to meet new people and be part of a supportive team.
- Induction and ongoing support from SWR Mind staff.
- Out-of-pocket expenses reimbursed (agreed in advance).
- Valuable experience for your CV and references for future opportunities.
Time Commitment
Give as much or as little time as you can - whether that's coming into the office once a week to plan events or just helping out at a one off event. You can work from wherever you like whenever you like.
