Key Duties

  • Plan and deliver student recruitment events on behalf of the College, liaising with the various Academic Schools, and central professional services divisions, as well as external suppliers where appropriate;
  • Act as the College point of contact on the Open Day Working Group;
  • Support the College's Academic Schools in the delivery of offer-holder day activities and the joint honours offer holder events;
  • Support the College's Academic Schools with the delivery of online events and webinars to support applicant conversion;
  • Support and lead student recruitment by building and managing relationships with key stakeholders, assisting with conversion activities and arranging overseas events in key markets for students and alumni;
  • Provide professional advice and guidance on recruitment events, processes and procedures to internal and external customers, using judgement and creativity to suggest the most appropriate course of action where appropriate, and ensuring complex and conceptual issues are understood;
  • Act as the College lead point of contact for the International Study Centre, working with relevant colleagues in the ISC and the International Office as needed;
  • Investigate and analyse specific events management issues creating recommendation reports, supported by advances in events management technology;
  • Proactively change the delivery of events according to customer requirements;
  • Provide administrative support to Admissions and Recruitment Group meetings at both College and School level, including preparation of agendas, papers and minutes;
  • Oversee administration linked with School-specific scholarship schemes, ensuring terms and conditions are adhered to and that students are allocated the correct funding support;
  • Collaborate with others in order to make recommendations for the development of established processes and procedures;
  • Establish working relationships with key contacts, developing appropriate communication links with the University's Schools/Directorates and outside bodies as required;
  • Create and supervise specific project teams on an occasional basis to accomplish key objectives.
  • Undertake a variety of administrative duties to support the College;
  • Instruct and guide other employees across the College on events management best practice as required.

Qualifications and Education

  • Degree/NVQ 4 or equivalent Professional membership/experience

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Substantial experience of working within events management or a relevant field
  • Able to demonstrate professional knowledge within events management to give advice and guidance to internal and external customers
  • Ability to set up standard office systems and procedures and make improvements as appropriate

Customer Service, Communication and Team Working

  • Ability to communicate conceptually detailed and complex information effectively and professionally with a wide range of people
  • Evidence of ability to explore customers' needs and adapt the service accordingly to ensure a quality service is delivered

Planning, Analysis and Problem Solving

  • Evidence of ability to solve expansive problems using initiative and creativity; identifying and proposing practical solutions and resolving problems with range of potential outcomes
  • Evidence of demonstrable knowledge of key advances within events management
  • Evidence of ability to work unsupervised to deadlines, planning and setting priorities for own work and that of others and monitoring and reporting on progress.
