Job Purpose:

We are looking for a compassionate and experienced Support Worker to join our Willow Hub team. This role involves supporting students, particularly those with complex needs, to engage in farm-based activities while completing the AQA programme. The successful candidate will work closely with students to develop their practical skills, record their progress, and ensure that they are supported in achieving their personal development goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support Young People aged 11-25 with Complex Needs: Provide individual and group support to students with a range of complex needs, including but not limited to learning disabilities and emotional and behavioural challenges.
  • Engage in Farm-Based Activities: Assist students in a variety of farm tasks such as animal welfare, farm maintenance, environmental awareness promoting engagement and learning.
  • AQA Programme Support: Help students participate in the AQA Unit Awards Programme, setting goals, completing tasks, and achieving accredited units that recognise their progress in key areas.
  • Skill Development: Develop and implement personalised learning activities to enhance practical and life skills, focusing on communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and self-reliance.
  • Monitor and Record Progress: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of each student's progress, challenges, and achievements.
  • Promote Positive Behaviour: Use positive reinforcement strategies and behaviour management techniques to encourage student engagement, motivation, and well-being.
  • Health and Safety: always Ensure the safety and well-being of students, adhering to all health and safety guidelines related to both farm activities and student welfare.
  • Collaboration with Team: Work closely with group lead and other support workers, and care farm staff to ensure a holistic and coordinated approach to student support.

Skills and Experience:

  • Experience with Young People: Previous experience supporting young people with complex needs, ideally in a similar setting such as a care farm, residential care, or educational support role.
  • Understanding of Complex Needs: In-depth knowledge of working with young people who have autism, learning disabilities, behavioural challenges, and other complex needs.
  • Communication Skills: Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to work effectively with young people.
  • Organisational Skills: Ability to maintain accurate records, track progress, and manage time effectively in a dynamic and ever-changing environment.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: £12.21-£15.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 24 per week
